Unfortunately, I missed both Wrestlemania and RAW, but I am going to watch HBK's farewell speech over the weekend.
When Simmons lists the things that made 90s wrestling SO much better than what we have today, he totally hit the nail on the head. How great were the signature managers like Bobby Heenan and the Mouth of the South? The finishing moves like the Perfectplex and Razor's Edge? It makes me very nostalgic to think about.
I can still remember when HBK was just a young face teaming up with Marty Jannetty on The Rockers...his heel turn was one of the best and most shocking in the last 30 years.
The last two nights, I watched Wrestlemania 5 & 6 going to sleep. Why don't wrestlers do back body drops anymore?
The greatness of wrestling began to fade away around that time. It really blew after 97ish.
I'm kind of confused by this. You just said the Attitude/nWo era blew. I agree that the mid-90s was a weak point for WWF, but the late 90s is pretty universally praised as the best era in wrestling, possibly ever. At least since the 80s boom.
But about back body drops, I'm guessing it has something to do with the safety of the performer, but man those are awesome.

I didn't get into wrestling until about 93/94. And even then it was only for a few years that I was into it. Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels were/are my favorite wrestlers.
Although I didn't get into wrestling until 93/94 I would always rent tapes of the late 80s and earlier 90s. That stuff was great. This past Wrestlemania was my first ppv in about 13 years. It was great for me, since Bret and Shawn will always be my favorite wreslters.
That was a really horrible Smackdown. I feel like they assumed a title change would be enough to carry the entire show, and it wasn't.
I'm interesting to see where they take Swagger from here, but if it's just to lose the title to Edge in a triple threat, I'm going to be really confused.
There wasn't much wrestling at all, but I was still pretty entertained by Smackdown thanks to the title change and even moreso thanks to CM Punk's promo. That guy is far and away the best heel in wrestling in a long time.

I just remembered one of my favorite moments with him.......in later era WCW whenever he stole Chavo Guerrero's toy stuffed horse Pepe and threw him in a wood-chipper on Pepe's birthday (if you don't know what I'm talking about......I can see that statement being fairly confusing).
