Re: Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
Why would Buffalo or KC be afraid of Baltimore? In their last 5 games they beat the Steelers twice, the Texans, Browns and Giants. That’s a lot of suck right there. They had an easy end to the season and haven’t had a real challenge since they lost to the Eagles Dec. 1

Agreed. Plus the Rat Birds secondary is garbage. Really think if the Steelers had thrown downfield in the first half they would have had success. Instead they opted for trying to establish a run game and dink and dunk. 2 times they ran routes short of the sticks.DelPen wrote: Sat Jan 11, 2025 11:24 pmWhy would Buffalo or KC be afraid of Baltimore? Re: Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
So in the most pivotal play of the game the ref who was looking at the ball called it a 1st down and the ref who waddled in from the Chiefs side called it short which also was the side all camera views were apparently on gave the Chiefs the game. And that other replay where the three options were incomplete, Bills INT or Chiefs catch, they went with the least clear choice.
There is a clear bias for KC, I don’t know how anyone can say there isn’t and thankfully I’m seeing anyone argue there isn’t one.

Glad players are starting to say something about this. I know it always seems like bias when teams win, but it's so obvious that they called a roughing penalty because 2 Texans hit each other near Mahomes.DelPen wrote: Mon Jan 27, 2025 7:16 amSo in the most pivotal play of the game the ref who was looking at the ball called it a 1st down and the ref who waddled in from the Chiefs side called it short which also was the side all camera views were apparently on gave the Chiefs the game. The Steelers drafted 2 QBs in 2022 and both have Super Bowl rings.
Neither with the Steelers. Well done franchise.

Fields going to Jets and Najee Harris leaving for Chargers.. shame
Pittsburgh QB hunt now narrowed down to Rodgers, Jones and Wilson coming back.

I'd actually take a chance at Jones. Wilson is toast, Rodgers is a head case and too close to me in age.

Daniel Jones would fit Tomlin's cowardice that's for sure. Most risk averse QB with the most risk averse coach.pfim wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 7:40 amI'd actually take a chance at Jones. Wilson is toast, Rodgers is a head case and too close to me in age.
Jones signed with the Colts.

Seems a bit dire. Both Wilson and Rodgers past it.

Re: Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
The best QB is ranked as good as Pickett and the rest are projects.
Trey Lance or Kyle Trask is as good as anyone available this year. Frankly Justin Fields was the best option.

Rudolph coming back, good signing, never should had let him go and given him more of a chance.

He's a backup. Don't think he did anything to warrant a look as a starter, but certainly didn't deserve QB3 in the QB soup the Steelers have created these past few years.DelPen wrote: Thu Mar 13, 2025 11:17 amRudolph coming back, good signing, never should had let him go and given him more of a chance.

I think he'd be fine as a bridge starter, certainly better than the drama queens the Steelers are rumored to be trying to get (Wilson/Rodgers).pfim wrote: Thu Mar 13, 2025 11:45 amHe's a backup. Rudolph
Flacco
Gamble on Ewers if in round 4 or lower

Re: Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
So we are still deciding between Wilson who in the end didnt sign with Browns and Rodgers?! Whats with Flacco is he a FA?
36yrs old Wilson
40yrs old Flacco
42yrs old Rodgers
All short term options for Steelers and what a lousy situation to get into..

They are going to waste a 1st on Sanders, aren’t they. Tomlin learns nothing.

Re: Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
Consider this if he falls to 21. The Giants chose Wilson and Winston rather than drafting Sanders. Cleveland chose Pickett and Flacco over Sanders. New Orleans also needs a QB and not sure their is anyone else to sign and would rather anyone but Sanders.DelPen wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 9:16 amThey are going to waste a 1st on Sanders, aren’t they. Shough or Ewers in the 4th/5th would be a better value and both will likely be better QBs. At worse both could backup next years QB in a far better draft class. But none of this matters as long as Mediocre Teflon Mike is in charge.

I agree with your premise, the supporting data (Browns and Giants track record of picking the right QB) is a bit weak though.Daniel wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 1:30 pmConsider this if he falls to 21. If you're comparing only to Pickett, Sanders is the better QB coming out of college. Not even sure it's close.
But we're not picking between two QBs in different drafts here. The odds that Sanders will be a top 10 QB in the league seem remote, so using a number 1 on him, especially when there are holes all of the roster, could be disastrous. Again.

Re: Official Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
Giants and Browns track record seems to be reaching for a QB and even those two have enough sense to pass on Sanders? The Steelers used to have more patience than this and with the 2026 draft being in Pittsburgh, much better QB class (Ward would probably not even be a 1st round pick next year), stocking up on comp picks to move up to get the next franchise QB, and they're going to reach for Sanders? Doesn't make sense. But then again, this isn't a well run franchise anymore.pfim wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 1:54 pmI agree with your premise, the supporting data (Browns and Giants track record of picking the right QB) is a bit weak though.Daniel wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 1:30 pmConsider this if he falls to 21. I agree, we're just debating a bunch of bad QBs. You can throw Rodgers in there as well.Daniel wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 2:12 pmGiants and Browns track record seems to be reaching for a QB and even those two have enough sense to pass on Sanders? Roethlisberger fell into their lap. This was after years of Malone, Brister, Miller, Tomczak, O'Donnell Stewart etc. It's a tough position but they don't have the best track record either.
The flip side of that, because of their mindset of winning at all costs, even with Rudolph at the helm I doubt they get into the top 10 of the draft next season. The Steelers are in a bit of a QB purgatory.
