She's nursing. My wife recently cut out dairy and my daughter just got a prescription yesterday after her check up because her weight gain hasn't been very good.

We will probably supplement with formula once she goes to daycare. With my first daughter, my wife wasn't able to pump enough to keep her on breast milk exclusively. So we've been trying to give her some formula the past week in preparation for that. We're using Enfamil Gentlease. I've gotten her to drink a couple bottles but only breast milk bottles. She wants nothing to do with the formula bottles. A couple times my wife has gotten her to drink them, but no one else.

Hate to evoke the G word, but has she considered gluten elimination (I know youre not soliciting advise, so apologies if I'm over stepping).

But man, that's rough. Sorry she couldn't get more time off.

Hasn't really considered it only because there's so many variables going on right now she's trying not to change 5 things and then not know what it is that is helping if things seem to improve. From what we've read, if the reflux is allergy related, dairy is the most common culprit, followed by caffeine, followed by gluten (spicy foods are not an allergy culprit but make things worse).

She'll probably consider it if there's no improvement, though. In which case I will certainly need tips on how to make that happen.

Yeah, 12 weeks is really all she can take and with this babe being late and her having to stop working about a week before her due date, she "wasted" the first couple weeks of the 12.

The one positive thing is that #2 will be assigned to the teacher in the infant room who we know well. Our older daughter was also with her in the infant room and she babysits for us on occasion, so we'll be able to have a good dialogue about keeping an eye on her with the reflux stuff.

Well, pretty sure I have ¡EBOLA!. All 5 family members have it and we are sharing 1 bathroom. My house looks like a mad Max movie.

Do you need to wait until everything stops before drinking liquids?

Had to take our daughter to the ER last evening . She's had pneumonia, but turns out she has severe RSV as well, with low blood oxygen levels. Transferred us to Dupont, which is a top notch facility, but seeing her with oxygen tubes and an IV is terrifying.

On the bright side, the two of us passed out in her bed pretty much all morning so I feel human enough to make it through the day. Hope we are healed and out in a couple days.

Anyone with kids that sound like they are dealing with respiratory issues, don't eff around. I wasn't expecting this.

Missed this, glad she's home. My best friends' son (16 months) had to stay at Children's Mercy here for a week due to a battle with RSV. I wouldn't be surprised if it's been passed through our family as well (same daycare, same ridiculous fever) but mine have been lucky enough (or old enough) to slug through. For them it was a couple days at home glued to Disney Junior, and me purchasing kids Advil in Costco volumes. I now have to stock both Bubble Gum and Grape flavors so I don't have to trick them into taking it.

Mwahaha, finally got the middle child there PFiDC. She had her third birthday and it was like a switch went off. She still can't hold it for the ~30 minute drive to day-car in the morning, or overnight, but other than that she's fine. That extra ~$100 a month will feel good.

Meanwhile, my wife is off to help out with her sister giving birth. Leaving me with the three little ones alone. The house may get redecorated, the police may be called.

after 7 ear infections in a year finally got tubes in my son's ears today. i really hope this changes things as they say. its been at most a week without an infection since mid september.

Good luck, it's done wonders for my nephew and his balance and speech improved dramatically too.

Tubes were great for both of my boys. One set stayed in my older son's ears for 18 months, the younger son's tubes stayed in for like 5 months before disappearing. Fortunately, he's only had one since then...but the tubes were put in after 6-7 months of constant ear infections and neverending antibiotics.

There's been studies about ear infections, antibiotic use, and baby teeth enamel. My older son had 2 years of ear issues before we got him tubes (with a lot of allergy issues too), and he also had rotten baby teeth despite limited sugar and always brushing (or having us brush his teeth when he was younger). Some of his baby molars basically disintegrated because of decay.

Studies are saying that antibiotics kill the good bacteria that helps protect baby teeth while they are forming in the gums. His adult teeth (he's 8) are in good shape, which is a good thing. Cavity filling after each dental visit was getting to be ridiculous.
