Anything with Ale in the name is good automatically.

"Bob's House of Ale and Icepick Colonoscopies" might be the exception to that rule.

Grille on Seventh is awesome...nothing but good things to say about that place.

Has anyone here been to BRGR in East Liberty? I've heard the food and alcoholic milkshakes are great, but the service is poor.

Also, anyone been to Cassis on the North Side? I'm trying to get in there because I hear they have a peanut butter and bacon sandwich. Sounds too good to not try.

Hvent been to brgr yet but have heard two separate negative reviews regarding food and service.

Finally went to tamari. Was pretty underwhelmed. Innovative menu with some interesting stuff but wasn't that impressed. I was in a sour mood when we went so maybe that contributed to it.

not sure about august henry's as a new years eve destination...its ok, they have a fine dining price with a casual atmosphere. i know some people there so i get free drinks...otherwise i'd never go there.
Haha, well after that ringing endorsement.....

Seriously, though, thanks for all the opinions. I've never been to either August Henry's or Grille on Seventh. Comparing menus online, August Henry's seems to have more of a selection, but it sounds like Grille on Seventh may be a bit more quality. Looking for more than bar food, but not much more....

Did go. Pretty good. Had the Penn St. Nick Bock. Very tasty. Could have used a touch more body. The fish n chips were pretty good. Wings were RedHot+butter, nothing spectacular.

if anyone is in the mt pleasant area of westmoreland co try out Grille 31 on Main st (route 31) by the doughboy. went there last night for wings. they have 31 cent wings on Wednesdays and 16 different sauces. you select the sauce so you can have one of each if you like. off the top of my head

leos lickers - (basic bbq/hot/sweet)
butter n garlic
hot garlic Parmesan
hot
mild
arizona ranch
bourbon bbq
honey bbq
general tso
sweet n spicy
sweet chili
Caribbean jerk

they also had a ton of dry spices. you get the wings and then go buffet style to choose ur sauces. awesomesauce

I also think they have a good selection of microbrews although I just stick with my regular there.

Sometimes it takes WAY too long to get served there, but I've never had a problem with the food - very good.

I have this theory that Tavern 245 does not use Heinz ketchup (though its bottled as such). I would like for others to investigate this. It'd be a serious strike against an establishment I really like.

Yeah, I just would have expected more from this place. Ketchup is far too sweet and the consistency just isn't right, last night the color even looked off (too bright red).

I think this might actually be my new 18th place back up job. Go around the country to find establishments abusing the Heinz trademark like people from the music industry who check for infringing juke boxes. Nice.

Went there last week. I cannot attest to the waitresses since I sat at the bar, but the bartender was attentive. The Kobe burger was the best burger I have ever eaten. Their in house sause was great. Fries were ok. I didn't try the milkshakes because they had Rogue Double Chocolate Stout on tap, but the women next to me seemed to like the taste but thought they were weak on alcohol content.

Here's the deal. I talked with manager there about the possibility of it not being heinz. He was shocked and disgusted that I'd even suggest that. Ketchup is from Heinz and bread is from breadworks, actually thought I was a crazy person. He did mention that his girlfriend bought Hunt's, but that was the end of that. He seemed very confident, but the fact that he brought up Hunt's leads me to believe he may be planning his excuse ahead of time, although it's probably minimal. If anything it might have been a one time mistake where they were in a bad position where ketchup was needed and that sole Hunt's bottle was the only thing around. If anything, after the conversation we had, that bottle is long gone...

I actually never went back to a place after one the first day I discovered they were putting hunts in a heinz bottle. I would not associate my good name with that.

It's not like hunts costs $1 and Heinz $10. There's about a 5-10% price difference.

Brgr was awesome. I read the reviews and generally am very annoyed by bad service but the waiter I had was fine and the food was ridic good. The hostess seemed to be a strange character....she gave me a nice glare as a welcome but I expected something service related due to the reviews I read and an upset hostess is basically expected these days so I didn't notice.
The food, however, was unbelievable. I had a burger with short ribs and a creamy cheese sauce and bernaise sauce with onions straws piled up on it. So delicious. I also had the vanilla spiked milkshake and tried the mintish and coffee-ish versions and loved them as well. Fries were good and had parmesan and deliciousness on them. I highly recommend brgr and can't wait to go back and sample more of the menu.

Similarly related is Burgatory in waterworks. It's like a carbon copy of brgr. It has more options on the menu and greater build your own burger options. My personal favorite at this time is brgr but I plan on making more trips to Burgatory to maybe find a better burger fit for myself.

Next on my list is finding a way to get to the new burger place at market square that is only open Monday to Friday and pretty limited hours at that.
