i've never seen any of guy's shows other than DD&D. i don't see how that show, in particular, could be accused of being the downfall to the network, artistically or otherwise. he's a good host, and it's a good vehicle. whether or not his credentials are up to snuff or people on that show make fattening food - i don't think that really matters a whole lot, does it? it's still genuine cooking by relatable people. isn't that the point of the network?
Crap like food truck race and cut throat kitchen are a bigger affront to the culinary world than anything fieri is doing. the dude highlights local eateries that anybody can go and frequent. this isn't the french laundry. if anything, shows like that should be lauded for their efforts. getting people to get out of their dumpy fast food ruts and explore some genuinely decent food is a plus. getting people to find enjoyment in trying something new, supporting something fresh--why the angst in that? seems terribly misplaced.

Supercharged sous vide venison distressed with mind-blowing mysterious herbs and cherry pie glaze straight from a can. Served with lawnmower cuttings from Kid Rock's childhood trailer park.

While I do not like the reality shows, I at least have a ton of respect for Alton Brown, and - for all his shininess - Tyler Florence is actually pretty good at cooking, too.
Guy Fieri is an untalented, homophobic, anti-Semite that I imagine smells like old people feet.

For as much credit I give Alton Brown for good eats which is the best show to ever air on food network, he's fallen into the reality tv/competition fold with everyone else at food network and its a damn shame. My current favorite food shows aren't even on food network (bizarre foods and anything Anthony bourdaine)
Those are some wrong words about guy. Do you have articles to back those claims?
he's talented at being a TV personality. considering the shlubs that usually come out of "the next food network star", it's clear that it's not easy to do what he does. which isn't cooking, so there's that.
That article opens up a pretty deep rabbit hole. It was openly acknowledged by the crew that if they were filming with anyone who was gay, Fieri had to know about it up front so he could mentally prepare for it because 'those people' freak him out. (Which is enlightened, given that his sister was a lesbetarian before she died) His rep in that particular area was so bad that they ended up having to shoot an entire DDD episode in San Francisco that - what a coinkeydink - featured almost all gay bars and restaurants.

that article stinks.
"Here's what we're doing, we're going to make this and that." And he said that as part of the briefing I needed to let Guy know he was homosexual before entering the restaurant.
That's what I did.
He heard all of that information, he said okay, he came into the restaurant, and we shot the segment, it turned out great, the chef pulled off a miracle of all miracles and cooked the two dishes.
translation:
hes anti-gay and will blow up at gays. he didnt blow up at gays.
between this junk at the butthurt former producer, these things stink of trying to drag this dude over the coals, for views he may or may not have.
