I feel like I am musically challenged...I have heard of like 2 of those albums, and maybe 4 of the performers

It's more or less all the albums that got internet hype (pitchfork hype).....there is a lot of group think involved, but i have found that the internet hype is usually pretty reliable.

I've been lucky enough to have a couple friends rescue me from the pop trash they play on every radio station in North America over the past 18 months.

Troy... that list is pretty good. Kind of surprised Oracular Spectacular isn't on the it though... all the hype it got - and it is a pretty good album - will have it on most "Best of the Decade" lists I'm sure.

The MGMT album is good...it was 08...all that stuff is 09.

They seem to have created some conflicts of interest...and they're efforts are self serving...

But they talk about the bands i like and are dedicated to introducing new artists...its just that they tend to marginalize acts that they don't hype.

I've been putting together a best of the decade list...it's hard to narrow it down though...and it probably will look nothing like any other list put out on the webernet...

I'm really just going by my favorites...so...yeah.

And it's amazing just how varied the decade really is when the whole time I'm going "man, music hasn't really changed this decade, at all"

It's too long of a time period for me to do it...to many different niches, categories, genres & sub genres...

Oracular was 2008? Heh, I thought it was 2009 too.

Technically it was 2007 if you count digital release, but i'm guessing it doesn't work like that.

NME named it 2008 Best album of the year.

Now...it's moved up the ranks on my favorite comedies list. That movie is really, really funny.

You two aren't the first I heard this from, so I will definitely have to go see it. When I saw the preview, I immediately made up my mind that it would be the suck, but everyone says it's hilarious.

"The Goods", on the other hand? God-awful

exactly...the first time i saw it, i didn't think i would really watch it when it came on cable. too many cheap laughs or something. but now i find myself always checking it out when i see it on the program guide.
