Westmoreland - who designed this? Really awful blue cross setupLetang Is The Truth wrote:ross park mall is easily the best in the areaPensFanInDC wrote:Are there any decent malls in Pittsburgh?
Greengate - RIP loved it here, was a wasteland in the end. Chic-fil-a, tilt, and the hobby shop were awesome at the end though
Monroeville - it's alright but the riff-raff has increased a lot over the years
Century 3 Mall - don't go here, might fall apart and crumble to the ground
Robinson - okay I guess, I've had better but still nice
Ross Park - nicest in pittsburgh, good setup, lots of traffic to get here

I like westmoreland's setup. Unlike robinson which feels like it's a mile long.

Those second rate half sized nothing good in them holes. Nah.
South Hills - very nice very small
The Mills - in the middle of no where relatively speaking. No good tenants, okay movie theater.

Galleria probably has more restaurants than stores.
The only mall that has any distinguishing characteristics is Ross Park Mall.

A Chicago mall and a Nashville mall had to close because of large fights, too.

In premise only, then a bunch of "protestors" gathered at the mall and all hell broke loose.shafnutz05 wrote:Were these protests?blackjack68 wrote:A Chicago mall and a Nashville mall had to close because of large fights, too.

Re: Monroeville Mall Riot/Fight
I sold tvs at the Pittsburgh Mills Sears. I tend to think of civilization ending in Kittaning, but we got a lot of customers who live further out than that. Rural Valley, Elderton, Renfrew - all these places going out towards IUP.
The store was part of a new experimental concept called Sears Grand - basically trying to position it like Target (but with more tools and appliances). It was the largest Sears in the area and I think it had to be the newest (Robinson wouldve likely been second).
Different stores get different product assortments. So with something like televisions only certain stores stocked the really high end models. At first the Mills was one of them, but eventually it was mostly South Hills Village and Ross Park that carried them (we didnt carry any receivers or speakers either).
When HH Gregg moved into the area they had a "pep rally" for everyone at the Monroeville store. Basically just to go over promotions to handle the new competition. They wanted everyone to get in a stupid picture standing on the hill overlooking the soon to open HH Gregg and yell at it that we weren't going anywhere. The store was one of the first in the area to close.

Re: Monroeville Mall Riot/Fight
Kittaning had a Walmart well before anywhere else in the Pittsburgh area, so I guess that was where I got that idea.
I think that the Freeport/Sarver area is growing. Lots of new homes built out there. Going even further out I work with one woman who commutes downtown from Rural Valley, one from Cadogan, and another guy from Ford City. I think my 8 minute ride from the Negley bus station is about as long a commute as I could stand.

It was kind of a goofy concept. Sears with some groceries at jacked up prices. It was still open last week, probably will be a few more with their store closing sale.pittsoccer33 wrote:I sold tvs at the Pittsburgh Mills Sears. Yeah not going there any more. We'd take my niece and nephew to the play area sometimes. Nope. That place is going downhill fast.

I don't know. I guess, Wilkinsburg is pretty close but then again so is Squirrel Hill. So who knows, guess it's just gang presence in general increasing in Pittsburgh.shafnutz05 wrote:It's pretty much all people from the city, no? KDKA said 3 shot and 2 critical. Could be gang related.

Well, if the victims are all gang-related, hopefully that will be a couple less turds in the punchbowl.FreeCandy44 wrote:KDKA said 3 shot and 2 critical. Could be gang related.

Now the mall is forbidding anyone under 18 from entering without a parent. That has to be pretty unenforceable.
