Again, Puljujarvi could go quiet offensively the rest of preseason and he's done enough in the scrimmages and this game to earn a spot in the top 12. He's showing at least 3rd line winger production, which is what I expect from him if he gets proper minutes.
He certainly provides size and skill to the bottom 6. Sullivan doesn’t love him, for whatever reason.

Really hope KD pushes back and ices the players that deserve to make the team.

Would like to see Murashov in net for one of these televised pre-season games.

Maybe we shouldn’t be in rush to do this rebuild :)

Men vs literal boys tonight.

Great effort by Puljujarvi. Blomqvist looked overmatched. Graves actually got better as the game went along.

Is it, or is it Sully's "just play mantra?" I've never thought of McGroarty, DOC, Puljujarvi, Broz, Graves, or Ludvig as soft.

So far, two early bottom 6 favorites that have shown me they deserve a roster spot are Puljujarvi and....Kevin Hayes. He had a good scrimmage the other day. I'd like to see him have a good performance in a preseason game, but if he does then I won't ***** about him constantly this season.

How Ponomarev looked? Did he even play after elbow to the head?

Yeah, Puljujarvi should be on regular season roster, but Sully ignores him..

Blomqvist with an absolute turd of a game. Woof... His stock isn't improving.

Puljujärvi on the other hand was terrific and I don't just mean the hatty. If the rest of his preseason doesn't collapse deserves a roster spot. I'm convinced now. He can have Acciari's roster spot.

Our defense was haphazard and discombobulated. Brunicke looks a few years away from being ready, failed the eye test there. I don't think the WHL will be the best place for him to improve, but with the CBA that's how that works.

I can't imagine Shea will end up on the NHL roster, but it would suck to lose him on a waivers claim. Just a nice defenceman to have in the mix.

Be interesting to see what if anything is learned from this game and how the 'team' responds (even though it's just a collection of prospects, AHLers, tweeners and 2-3 NHL players)

Puljujarvi after the game said there was no way he would have scored that 2nd goal last season because of his hip surgery. He said it’s good to be back. He has the speed and size to drive to the net. Something we severely lack.

Hopefully he keeps progressing and makes the team. Pulling for him.

I can tell you one thing...after the showing he had last night (plus scrimmages), there is 0.0% chance Puljujarvi passes through waivers without getting claimed. A guy who has speed and size, forechecks aggressively, plays defense, and who has a 15 and 14 goal season only 2 years ago with known injury issue last 2 year for only 775K.

Sullivan is an absolute ass if he doesn't have him on the team. They will lose him for sure.

I'll add that for non-AHL guys (Broz, Ponomarev, Koivunen), guys like Glass (didn't notice him much at all last nite), Lizotte, Puustinen (again, didn't notice him much) and Beauvillier are going to have to step up and have a good showing.

But the summer fan plan was to trade Jarry and move this guy top the NHL??? :) It was his first game of NHL action, let's give him a bit of time to settle in.

It's still only one game. But in the back of your head has to be how the WBS train ran off the playoff tracks.

... and I've seen Jarry play these kinds of games at the NHL level too. I'll be kind and forgiving. Though for Joel, there might be a bunch of goalies looking at him like proverbial sharks with blood in the water. I don't think it'll change anything for now.

(Still would vote yes on trading Jarry right here and now, even if we didn't have Murashov, Larsson, Gauthier as well as Blomqvist)

McGroarty's skating starts awkward, isn't especially slow, but looks clumsy. Nothing new there, pretty much common knowledge. Something he needs to work on. Yeah he compensates with his reads, his positioning, uses it like a crutch almost.

Now figure if he can upgrade his skating on top of that and he's an exciting player to have. Guy got some other rough edges, but he's 20, it's not a problem.

Pool Party is going to get claimed by someone when he doesn’t make the team for “reasons”. McGroarty needs to play a lot better and stand out among the JV players regardless of the other team essentially playing their full team because they have a shortened preseason due to the Sabres leaving earlier for Europe. I noticed Puljujarvi and DOC a lot for good reasons and Nate Clurman (#4) a lot for not good reasons. Everyone else was meh.
