I've really liked Lizotte this season. He's putting up solid 3C numbers, and is one of the few guys who is noticeable every night and most every shift. Now if he could only turn off the puck magnet on his helmet....Zalapski33 wrote: Sat Nov 30, 2024 9:44 pmLizotte earned that one. He's had the motor going every shift every night.Heckuva shot!

Overall might have been the best Win for the Pens this Year.Dominated nearly the entire Game.
Ned was on it early, those difficult saves set the tone for this One.
3 PP Goals for the 2 Unit. They were simple and effective.
Letang with his best game in a long time.He was a big difference in a Good way.Sid was outstanding all night.
Tomasino getting on the scoresheet again is big.He has shown his Offensive Skills and looks like a good fit on Geno's Line.

Being the broadcast was Canadian, I noticed that the games they were showing, had the Budweiser banner with black strike through on most messages: "Why tonight, not gonna make it"; "Totally slammed, can't get there". Why wouldn't they remove the ads to begin with?

Pens are 6–2-2 with Lizotte in the lineup. He’s the new “piece”.

Because even horrendous teams go on 2 3 or 4 game runs. Wake me up when they win 7 or 8 of 10. But hopefully don't because it would be a pointless way to ruin the draft position they both need and actually deserve.

Another good all-around game last night. My thought after the Boston game was that the top two lines looked good, but the bottom 6 was doing nothing. But then the Bunting-Lizotte-Beauvillier line got going last night. I'm skeptical that line and the team as a whole can keep it up, but it's nice to have some wins to enjoy.

It's almost like a 4th line of generally average to below average, mid 30s guys isn't a great option for a 4th line. 5v5 numberslargegarlic wrote: Sun Dec 01, 2024 11:28 amAnother good all-around game last night. 19 forwards have played for the Penguins this year. Puustinen is 19th in shots for/against percentage, the next 3 above him are Hayes, Nieto, and Acciari.
Outright shot attempts (Corsi), Puustinen is last, with Nieto above him and Acciari 15th. Hayes is actually 7th best, probably due to his time up the lineup earlier in the season.
Goals For percentage, Hayes has been on the ice for 4 GF, 14 GA...Acciari 5 GF, 18GA...Nieto 0GF, 4GA. Puustinen, Ponomarev, and McGroarty are also mixed in that list, and those players are all the bottom end of the list.
BTW, notice I didn't mention Puljujarvi in any of those 3 stats...almost like, his numbers are better than any of those older guys.
Hayes gets a pass because he's provided some offense....oh, wait, has has 4 goals, 2 assists...Puljujarvi has 3 goals, 5 assists.
Well, Hayes gets a pass because of his +/-.....nope, Hayes a -10 to JPs -2
This team needs to find a way to dump Hayes and Acciari, and just go with a young 4th line. X-Glass-Puljujarvi. Even if it sucks...it cannot be much worse than Nieto, Hayes, and Acciari.

That’s the issue, not being bad enough to finish in the top 5 of the draft lottery, but not good enough to get into the playoffs. Being in that middle ground just delays the process of putting a good team together.Antonio wrote: Sun Dec 01, 2024 5:53 amBecause even horrendous teams go on 2 3 or 4 game runs. Yeah, I guess my post (correctly) implies that the 4th line still is doing nothing. I kinda feel bad disliking Nieto, since he must have had a really hard road back to being fit, but he brings nothing, and I'm not sure why they don't waive him in favor of bringing up a younger guy from WBS.FLPensFan wrote: Sun Dec 01, 2024 11:50 amIt's almost like a 4th line of generally average to below average, mid 30s guys isn't a great option for a 4th line. 5v5 numberslargegarlic wrote: Sun Dec 01, 2024 11:28 amAnother good all-around game last night. I don't see any reason not to play Puljujärvi over our fourth liners. And looking at Corsi and Fenwick stats, Glass really needs to play when he returns and one of the old geezers needs to sit.FLPensFan wrote: Sun Dec 01, 2024 11:50 amIt's almost like a 4th line of generally average to below average, mid 30s guys isn't a great option for a 4th line. 5v5 numberslargegarlic wrote: Sun Dec 01, 2024 11:28 amAnother good all-around game last night. How about a PPG line in the future?
Puljujärvi, Glass and one of Poulin or Ponomarev?
