The Caps coach has to be up for coach of the year. You would never think this collection of players would be playing as well as they are.

And isn’t that the rub? A team that on paper is very similar to the Pens, but they’ve given up the fewest 3rd period goals and the Pens the most.

In very similar situations the two teams, except one organization made smart and tough moves based on intelligence instead of emotion and brought in quality coaching and the other organization...well, did exactly the opposite in every way.

The top 2-3 coaches in the NHL are Sullivan, Carbery and one person who shall not be named.. Voldecoach.
