How do you not take a shot for an entire period?

Lizotte had to get that puck out and deep and just gave it right back to the Rags. Not acceptable.

Just like the Pens to work hard for a win without the top 2 players. Weird.

Is it ok to be happy with a win or do we want them to lose every game? I'm so damn confused.

Well the Rags don’t get any points so that’s good since we have their pick and you always want to beat teams you hate so I’m happy tonight.

This felt like a X-generation win. Lots of heart, not much skill. But I appreciate the effort that the guys put out there tonight.

Always Great to beat the Rags. That Team is a Disaster right now.Pens out worked and outplayed them all night.

To see Lizotte and Tomasino get the Goals was good to see. Both guys had solid games.Rust was strong as well.

POJ and Acciari stood out late with their Defensive Effort.Big Shot Blocks from both.

Ned was decent in the 3rd.He tightened it up and gave the Rags Zero Rebounds.

Somehow the Pens Scrapped and Battled that 3rd Period and held on without a Shot on Net.Wasn't Pretty but got it done.

Now without Sid and Geno the Pens will play hard and other teams will take them lightly and they will win. Funny game this hockey lol

Losing to us has apparently become "inexcusable" how the mighty have fallen.

Penguins are 6 points out of a WC spot, and they have 8 games remaining before the trade deadline:

-@PHI
-WSH
-NYR
-@PHI
-PHI
-BOS
-TOR
-@COL

3 games against Philly and another vs the Rangers. Of the teams ahead of them, 3 teams have 2 games in hand, 2 teams have 1 game in hand, 1 team is even in games, and 1 team has 3 games in hand.

We're not making the playoffs. That was a gutsy performance no question. But in the long run it's not not gonna help matters. Only positive is it hurts the Rags regarding our pick with them. At least it didn't get to OT.

All credit to the players. And, Ned.

Whoever the coach is, this group battled hard and won as a team. Vets and some youth. Just let the players play.

EK should stop breaking his stick smacking it on the net. You **** the bed; every time you do it, your professional image takes a hit.

As a fan of this team today, I am going to enjoy what RR, Bunting, Rust bring to this season. Lizzote as well.

Letang looks lost playing without Crosby. A one dimensional player. He should be shopped to Montreal for an honest return. He isn't going to earn any hate from us fans, (me) if he leaves. He has enough coins in the Penguins chest to have a video of his greatness shown on the Videotron at center ice.

I wonder when was the last time a team had zero shots in a period and still managed to get the win in regulation.

Against a struggling Penguins team without Crosby, Malkin and Nieto ( ), which didn't register a shot.. yeah kind of is really bad to lose.

I'll take any win, but against Rags is extra funny.

How many times have we seen HCMS's teams do well when stars are out only to fall apart when they return. It make not make sense on the surface, but it feels kind like like:

A) The "not top" players are more disciplined when they stars are out knowing there's little room for error
B) They let up a bit when the stars return, figuring the top players will carry the load.

We've seen it play out that way far too many times to call it a coincidence.

It's a well-known phenomenon (du duu dududu) in all of team sports really. Teams lacking their stars will compensate if everyone is on edge trying to do so. Specifically teams with rigid systems, in my experience. Fits the Sully mold.

Yeah when the star players return, expect a drop off from the supporting cast. It's normal. All it tells you is that the supporting players are competent enough to not fully collapse.

That's true in most of the NHL.
