Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
Been doing the typical combo of cardio and strength, and watching calories. Just weighed in, down to 177 and 15.8% body fat. Feels great...my previous low was 181, and I've now lost 28 since February.
Best part is, I'm still indulging in some of life's greater pleasures (read: beer). I had a fast metabolism before, and I think the constant exercise has kicked it back into gear.

I've lost 8lbs this week on the new diet.
So much is better having cut out gluten and artificial preservatives.

I don't have anything to add to this exercise thread at this time. Just say that I have an enourmous craving for Wendy's chili, and so I think I will go take a drive right now and buy some!

For real? I know it has a ton of protein because of the beef and the beans. And I guess the spicy stuff will clean you out, lol.PensFanInDC wrote:Chili is really good for you...Sarcastic wrote:I don't have anything to add to this exercise thread at this time. hahaha...Chili is nothing but protein and complex carbs. It's the perfect food IMO. My wife disagrees <fluttering sheets>Sarcastic wrote:For real? Yeah, that's definitely a new one to me. I try and eat a good share of unsaturated fats (especially from nuts) for heart health, but high-fat in general? No way. Especially saturated fats.

You need unsat fats for testosterone among a **** ton of other things but even too many good fats like omega 3s prevents your blood from carrying optimal levels of nutrients throughout your body

Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
Woah calm down people.
My diet is "high fat" because I ingest more fat than normal. I have also cut out all simple carbs. Since my body, and the bodies of most Americans, run on simple carbs my body has had to learn over the past week to start using fat as its main source of fuel over simple carbs. It's not a diet for someone who isnt physically active, that is for certain. Fat provides 9kcal per gram while carbs only provide 4 kcal per gram. Since my body is training itself to use fat as fuel instead of carbs I am burning a ton of fat and that includes the fat stores I already have.
As of this morning I have lost 9lbs since Monday. I'm getting my bf% done on Wednesday so I will see what to progress is there. This is a specific diet catered to my specific body type and goals that was introduced by a licensed nutritionist. It's not unheard of.

Re: Gym/Exercise Thread

When he first told me he wanted me on a high fat diet I laughed at him. After he explained what it's going to do to my body it made sense. The down side is that I HAVE to remain physically active and I probably can't change my diet ever again (medical needs not withstanding). I felt like crap most of the week as I detoxed and changed fuel sources. My body was CONSTANTLY hungry because it lived on simple carbs. I cut it's main fuel source and was just ravenous all day. Now if I eat an 8oz steak with some olive oil drizzled on top I'm good for 3 hours.
I still eat carbs. I get them from veggies and white sweet potatoes. I'm also not a diet nazi. I cheated last night at the movies and had some candy.

Re: Gym/Exercise Thread
I get 35% (give or take 2.5%) of my calories from healthy fats:
- Almonds
- Peanuts
- Shredded Coconut
- Flax Oil
- Chia Seeds
- Olive Oil
Works good for me.
