As someone very very familiar with that road, may I just say that might be the dumbest idea when driving in a winter storm.

generally speaking, the correct choice when driving in snow is to find the windiest, hilliest, most rural road with the least amount of traffic.count2infinity wrote:As someone very very familiar with that road, may I just say that might be the dumbest idea when driving in a winter storm.

Looking out the window, to a little view of the Mon River~ it isn't flowing. The Allegheny isn't that much better.
I have to give City salt/removal crews a nod of appreciation.
During the weekend, my city street was plowed/salted. This wasn't the case with Mayor Luke. He pretty much ignored secondary roads on the
weekends.

I left the kitchen faucet on a steady drizzle last night hoping it wouldn't freeze like last time. So far so good.

I know it was -5 when I was waiting for the bus. But it honestly didn't seem that cold.
I think because there was hardly any wind.

My car said -15 but I put on my grille cover last night so I'm thinking that might have an effect on the temperature sensor.

Isn't NC supposed to get hit with really bad ice storms today and tomorrow?legame wrote:It was 70 degrees here today and my school has already cancelled classes for the next two days. Oh, North Carolina.

Re: 2013-2014 Winter Weather Thread
waiting for the snow here in metro ATL. we're supposed to get a couple of inches of PURE SNOW. that never happens. South and Central GA is supposed to get slammed with ice.
I work for GDOT, buying equipment. 2 years ago we bought several million dollars worth of snow plows and spreaders. we keep most of them in North GA where they get used a fair amount in the Winter. S. GA gets an ice storm once every 20 years or so. they're screwed.

No wind makes a big difference. Goes from -5 to like -30 when the wind is going good.llipgh2 wrote:I know it was -5 when I was waiting for the bus. But it honestly didn't seem that cold.
