This seems so odd to me. This is 2012 where everything is instantly available. Why can't I find this anywhere?Staggy wrote:Haven't seen this reported anywhere but man, that does not sound good.

Yeah exactly, that's why I'm not reading too much further into it just yet.

I don't think it's an actual screen shot of the e-mail. I think they recreated it for the segment.Sam's Drunk Dog wrote:That email looks fake to me.

Can you tell by the pixels?Sam's Drunk Dog wrote:That email looks fake to me.
Maybe JoPa is covering up the news from breaking anywhere else?
But seriously... I'm not a Penn Stater but until it's more widely confirmed as being true, I won't jump on the "dig up Joe Pa so we can kill him again!" bandwagon.

The segment is repeating on CNN at ten. Yes, that is the actual email. They recreated it for tv and put that snippet in. There were three other emails that are equally as damning.

Watching now it appears this information was obtained by CNN secondhand and they don't have the actual emails.

I think the smartest decision would be to nuke State College rendering it unlivable for all of eternity.

Allegheny County should be next since that is where the most PSU alumni live.Hockeynut! wrote:I think the smartest decision would be to nuke State College rendering it unlivable for all of eternity.

Re: Jerry Sandusky Trial
As a PSU alum, I want every rock turned over...no matter how 'painful'. If there were people in the know, no matter how popular or powerful, those people need exposed.
However...and I type this with some hesitation given the horrific nature of the events that took place...the benefit of 20-20 hindsight cannot be discarded. We all know now what a monster JS is (and was), but not one of those 4 people included on those emails could've imagined the depravity that existed in their presence. Everyone wanted to believe that it was a misunderstanding, an exaggeration, a misinterpretation, etc. No one wanted to believe that it was as bad as it could've been.
This fact, given what each individual knew at the time of these events, is why I will always hold Mike McQueary 'more responsible' for not stopping this than anyone. He was the only non-victim to personally witness a 'transgression'. He had first-hand knowledge, and did not do enough to stop it.

Re: Jerry Sandusky Trial
Kraftster would be able to explain this better, but your able to retrieve stuff on computers....you need to be a real tech savvy person to know how to delete the complete file, yet alone be aware of their existence after you delete them. So if your covering something up, talking about it in an email is not the way to go.count2infinity wrote:This seems so odd to me. This is 2012 where everything is instantly available. Didn't see this posted:
http://www.cnn.com/2012/06/30/justice/p ... =allsearch" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; In an exchange of messages from February 26-28, 2001, Spanier allegedly acknowledges Penn State could be "vulnerable" for not reporting the incident, according to two sources with knowledge of the case.
"The only downside for us is if the message (to Sandusky) isn't 'heard' and acted upon, and we then become vulnerable for not having reported it," Spanier purportedly writes.

Re: Jerry Sandusky Trial
I agree it's not quite enough, but you've got to admit, this looks really bad. CNN jumps the shark sometimes but Anderson Cooper I think is the premier journalist in the country today; I doubt he'd report without solid authority. At the very least it's enough that those hapless PSU alums that insist that there was no cover-up might want to begin to consider that they may be wrong, and that either journalists or the state will investigate further to bring something more concrete to light.count2infinity wrote:Well, that's evidence enough for me! i don't think that there's any PSU alum that will say there was no cover-up. I think it's quite obvious there was.
