Since I saw the draft started, just a heads up I might slow this up. I'm basically gone from now until about 9 pm tonight without computer access.

Depending upon what happens in front of me, there is a very strong chance that I will have interest in trading back to add some extra picks. So, if anyone is enticed by one of these top young rookies still being out there, I'm interested in trading back from 1.12 to add picks.

I should have taken Ladd, given responses to me talking about keeping Val, I'm guessing he would have fallen to the third.

I'm surprised you didn't considering he was my target and they always go the pick before me. I even thought ahead to PM my backup pick if you took Ladd. Wasn't sure if my pick would come up before 4:30 or not.

With Val, I just wonder where he will fit if everyone is healthy? I assume Stamkos, Val, and Johnson are the top 3 centers, and I just think everyone outside of Stamkos will be in roughly the same position to top out around 60 points. Just seems like a floor pick, which I'm not a huge fan of in the 1st round.

This isn't the first round. Its the 11th/12th round.

Speaking of rookies - not sure if this has been mentioned, but just so everyone is on the same page with new members coming in: draft four rookies each year. There is a four round rookie draft at the end of the regular draft; HOWEVER, you can select up to two rookies in the regular draft. The rookie cut offs are 64 games played or less or 9 or less games started for a goalie. Once 65 and 10 are reached, rookie status is exhausted

I'm glad you said this. I was going to ask but then backed off and just assumed you could draft rookies at your leisure.

If I follow the 2012 draft (I don't understand how 2013 is in there), if I take 2 rookies during regular draft, then I get my 3rd and 4th round picks in the rookie draft?

good question. you only get 2. if you take 1 rookie, you do not have your first round rookie pick, if you take 2, you do not have first or second round; however, you essentially took your first and second round rookie picks during the draft
