Can't include General George Custer in the greatest general category as he couldn't win the big one. Or in this case, the Little Big one. But prior to his assuming room temperature at the Little Big Horn, he was quite the civil war general. In fact, he was present General Robert E. Lee's surrender at Appomattox.

No offense to anyone who has posted here, but I do believe that the O.P., in using the word "general", meant accidental, fortuitous, adventitious, fluky, coincidental, serendipitous; unintentional, unintended, inadvertent, or unplanned. As in the sentence "EPP took an unplanned vacation from LGP.com."
