Was never really into the Pixies. The only CD I have from them is Trompe Le Monde, which I bought years ago because of the cover of The Jesus And Mary Chain's "Head On"
Looking at the wiki page for that album, everybody rated that album very high, including one rating as "best album of the 21st century"
I thought Trompe Le Monde was rather boring. I'm not sure how I'd feel about the Pixies if I were five years younger or five years older. I probably wouldn't care. They've been sort of a "right place, right time" for me, but I don't consider them to be anything special. The Jesus & Mary Chain meanwhile were ****ing gods.
"a strong contender for best album of the 20th century"? lol, dumb.
Current episode of 'Sonic Highways' - New Orleans - is far and away my favorite. Not that the others are bad, I just really love NOLA.
Great moment #1: Dave Grohl recording vox, looking out the window and recognizing a fan he met a couple days earlier. "That guy's on his bachelor party trip. He has his dad with him."
Great moment #2: Taylor finishes tracking some drums, goes across street to retrieve Dave from the bar to listen to playback.
I wish I was in a band.

So did anybody "beat the bots" and get Foo Fighters tickets this morning?
I got to the Forum at 10:15 and there were approximately 1,000 bot beaters in a slow-moving line that wrapped about 2/3 of the way around the building. I fought the bots and the bots won. Internet pre-sale is 12/1. Yay?
It was actually a very good episode. I was afraid that Grohl would do something horrible, like set them up to record a NO-inspired song....which would have been just awful.
A lot of good history revealed for the younger folks.

so question here from a noob... I normally listen to pandora on my iphone. I don't actually own any digital music (itunes is empty). I was looking for something like grooveshark or spotify that's free on iphone. make playlists, stream music, that sort of thing. I have amazon prime, so I have amazon music, but there are some albums (a lot of albums) that aren't available. anyone have a good app?
We are all rightfully excited about the new Foo record and the Sonic Highways show and whatnot. But it is important to remember that Metallica is still a thing, and they are good at rock.
