I know you said 'free' but how often do you use an app like that? We decided to pay the $10 a month for spotify and it's been well worth it for us to have the majority of the world's music and comedy at our disposal anytime we want it.count2infinity wrote:so question here from a noob... I normally listen to pandora on my iphone. I don't actually own any digital music (itunes is empty). I was looking for something like grooveshark or spotify that's free on iphone. make playlists, stream music, that sort of thing. I have amazon prime, so I have amazon music, but there are some albums (a lot of albums) that aren't available. anyone have a good app?

Re: Let's talk about music
Right now I wouldn't use it often enough to really make it worth it. Possibly in the future where my commute to work isn't 5 minutes on a good day, 15 on a bad one.PensFanInDC wrote:I know you said 'free' but how often do you use an app like that? Hets vocals are kinda meh these days, which I know comes with age.
Lars has regressed since DM
No hook
4/10

Well for one thing you could clearly hear the vox. So there's a FC ding against it right there.PensFanInDC wrote:Not grunge enough for ya?FreeCandy44 wrote:It was just kinda meh to me.

No hook? Seriously? Maybe not vocally but Metallica has always been about the musical hooks and that main riff is exquisite.
We agree on the vocals.

Keep in mind I love Metallica and I even supported the Loads. However....this song just doesnt catch me. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy, and the riff is clunky. I just dont like it. :(

I think if you read the liner notes on Garage Inc it says "Slightly Produced by Bob Rock". Ill.give the song a second chance later buddy. ;)PensFanInDC wrote:Garage Inc was fully produced. Death Magnetic was not...
In other news....Shawn Drover quit as the drummer of Megadeth. The band needs Nick Menza back asap. Hell...bring back the Rust In Peace lineup.

Yeah. Or did he leave before that?
Megadeth was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Re: Let's talk about music
Megadeth Rust In Peace through Cryptic Writings era lineup is my fav.
Dave Mustaine - Guitars Vocals
David Ellefson - Bass B Vocals
Marty Friedman - Guitars
Nick Menza - Drums
This lineup was responsible for such classics as Rust, Countdown to Extinction, Youthansia, and Cryptic Writings.

Re: Let's talk about music
That Lords of Summer track has been around for months. It's not that new.
That being said it's not bad. It's obviously a rough cut. The riffage is pretty good as usual. James voice is a bit all over the place. Lars is Lars. It could be shortened by a couple minutes to make it a much tighter track.
I don't think it's bad, but I hope if it makes the next album its reworked quite a bit before it gets there... which I'm sure it will be.

Hopefully a new album is coming soon. It's been 6 years since Death Magnetic and I thought that was a major step in the right direction, though honestly the 4 songs they left off of DM and put on Beyond Magnetic I would have take a couple of those and put them on the album, especially Just a Bullet Away which has a friggin awesome main riff. Starts at like 1:10 or so. So simple yet so good. Rebel of Babylon was great too.

When I saw her this summer my impression was that she's Catwoman. Strong feline mannerisms.Gaucho wrote:Went to see St. Vincent tonight. Holy non-stop erotic cabaret.
