NHL 10 is pretty good, though I think some people are finding the glitch goals, because I see a lot of people repeating the same moves to score.
Yeah that's why it's usually a ton of fun to play online the first week the game comes out and it slowly goes down hill a bit. I don't know what fun people get out of doing the same 2 or 3 moves everytime they go down the ice.

I finished up The Legendary Starfy (seriously, not a bad game). I just picked up Suikoden Tierkreis, a RPG for the Nintendo DS. So far, it seems like a fairly solid Final-Fantasy-esque RPG. The only negative so far is that the voice acting for the cut scenes is atrocious. It sounds like you’re listening to a bad high school play, and, unfortunately, there’s no way to turn it off.

Also been playing Left 4 Dead Crash Course. I was a little angry they waited so long to release this, then charge $7 for it when L4D2 is a month away. Well I broke down and bought it. This should have been free. It was only a two level campaign.
That is because you are playing the inferior console n00b version. Free on PC!
Spoiler:
Although it broke my Zoey naughty mod.
My PC would explode if I tried to install it. I'm lucky I can open this IE browser.

Gears 1 is definitely more difficult on Insane than Gears 2. Especially the final boss.

I'm def dreading that even though Skorge on Insane was a nightmare on Gears 2.
Raam is tougher on Insane than Skorge. Theres a little secret to beating him if you can't do it though.

IMO, it is not quite as good as the original, but is much better than Echoes. The controls are some of the best usage of the motion stuff to date. There is a lot of voice acting (but never Samus thankfully), which kinda goes against the spirit of Metroid IMO (Isolation & Exploration are 2 of the core themes of Metroid and the interaction with others kinda dilutes the former).

This game contains my favorite sequence of any Metroid game though... there is a 10-15 minute segment where the game takes on a horror feel, and even though you know what is going to happen, it is still creepy and awesome.

I can see where fans of the newer FPS games on 360/PS3/PC might not enjoy it, but if you are a Metroid fan, you would certainly be remiss to not pick it up. You might want to spring for the MP Trilogy instead though at this point... all 3 games for $50. :thumb:

Anyone ever play Mass Effect? I'm thinking of downloading it on the Xbox for $20. I've heard really good things about it.

I thought Mass Effect was excellent.

I've just started Arkham Asylum. It's certainly impressive from a technical standpoint.

Regarding Mass Effect, how is the first person shooting part of it? I usually don't care for FPS on consoles (mainly b/c I suck at them when using a game pad!), and one review I read said the FPS part was frustrating at times.

Keeping in mind that you can choose a character model that essentially eliminates your need to use a gun, I've never found the FPS frustrating, mainly because the FPS aspect of the game is extremely simple. To the best of my knowledge Mass Effect is the first game that Bioware has ever included FPS elements in and that inexperience shows, but not necessarily in a bad way. It's not a fluid system like you would expect from a FPS, but you can duck behind cover, pop out from behind cover, weapons and ammo can be upgraded, and if your targeting reticle is anywhere near the person you are shooting at, you tend to hit that person. Personally, I found the combat is Mass Effect to be better than the combat is Fallout 3, but I tend to be the minority in that case.

I think too many people (and reviewers) went into the game expecting it to be a pure FPS/RPG hybrid, but that is simply not the case. The game is RPG through and through, it was just able to included more action and FPS elements than most of the RPGs that came before it, and based off of what I have seen the action elements will continue to improve in Mass Effect 2. When it comes down to it though, the story is what is important, the combat systems are just what gets you through it.

i dont think the FPS is that frustrating except for the sniper rifle. it requires the patience of a saint and i finally gave up on it. i usually give it to someone in my party. my fave class was the sentinel and you can use either the pistol or the shotgun and i think these are very easy to use. assault rifle and sniper a little more frustrating.

Do you have any idea how much the additional parts of Fable II cost to download? I bought the game the day it came out, played it for a while, got sidetracked, traded it in for Fight Night Round 4, and now have the urge to play Fable II again.

Based on what I found each of the 4 remaining chapters costs $10 a piece. Kind of expensive. Can buy a brand new copy of the game from Amazon or Gamestop for 30 bucks or less.

I got Fable II off eBay for less than $20 including shipping. I finished the main story line last week, but am now starting over. This time through, I'm going to hit more hit more of the side quests play as an evil character.
