Didn't say he was good, just that he is very famousllipgh2 wrote:Every one of Pitbull's songs are about 3 things:Froggy wrote:Pit Bull is very famous. But he sings club music, so this is probably not the right demographic
1. He's an international stud
2. He has money
3. He's Cuban (American), baby

95% of the beastie boys' songs were them rapping about how they rap. it's a low bar for that genre. pittbull isn't worse than anyone else as far as i can tell

They're no Melvilles, but they have way more narrative range than most rappers, past and present. Plus they don't use the n word or talk about killing or beating women every three words.shmenguin wrote:95% of the beastie boys' songs were them rapping about how they rap. it's a low bar for that genre. pittbull isn't worse than anyone else as far as i can tell
I laugh when I drive into town on Fif Ave and see the huge Wiz Khalifa billboard that says o.N.i.f.c. Then I rue the future.

hgtv is always my default channel when nothing else is on. every stinking commercial break, they run this ad that's asking you to send them random pictures. that idea in itself makes limited sense, but the thing that bugs me is the song they play over it every. freaking. commercial break. ohhhhhohohhohohohohhhhhh ohhhhhhohohohhhoh.

Really disagree with that percentage unless you are only talking about the License to Ill album. Yes, I'm old, I said album.shmenguin wrote:95% of the beastie boys' songs were them rapping about how they rap. it's a low bar for that genre. pittbull isn't worse than anyone else as far as i can tell

It was originally released on album. I'll allow it.blackjack68 wrote:Really disagree with that percentage unless you are only talking about the License to Ill album. When you start getting to stuff that was released on CD only, then I'm not sure album is the right word.

I always used "album" to mean a word for the collection of songs, not the medium it is recorded on. I used "record" if it was a vinyl lp. I'm probably wrong on that, though

Is it me or do both people in that ad sound like the same person?
Funny thing is that ad has to be close to ten years old. They used to run them all the time during Mark Madden's show back when he was on WEAE 1250.

Personally I thought all Pitbull's songs were about Miami.
I like Pitbull personally but he's definitely a sellout. Here's my favorite story about that:

I have to immediately change the channel from NHLN when it goes to commercial, as I cannot watch that commercial every 8 minutes. It is featured on every commercial break on NHLN. It also disturbs me in that apparently, I, as an NHLN viewer, am the target market for the wax vac. I have never seen that commercial on any other channel.

NHL Network has 2 commericals on a loop it seems. Wax Vac and the skin tag product. I get its a niche sport, but Jesus, hockey fans like pizza, we buy cars...anything else but these

Re: What current ad campaign makes you contemplate homicide?
I thought I saw it on Root once. But only during a hockey game or hockey related segment have I seen this commercial. And since hockey is just about the only thing I watch on TV, I always see this abomination.slappybrown wrote:I have to immediately change the channel from NHLN when it goes to commercial, as I cannot watch that commercial every 8 minutes. The cleaning out the thing in the water is one of the grossest things on television. Only thing grosser would be the pediegg.

nhl network is on par with espnu when it comes to bad commercials.
espnu always has that commercial with the fat guy with the bad jersey accent that is selling that ensure-a-seal stuff. believe it or not, this gentleman is not persuaded to buy a sealing product from a fat italian guy.

I've been watching Tampa Bay Lightning game on CI and they constantly show this car commercial for the Ed Morse automotive group to the tune of were not going to take it by Twisted Sisters. It's horribly annoying and cheesy and it doesn't make me want to buy a car from them.

the fake accent used on VAN-COOOO-VUR is annoying, and then all of the sudden it's gone.

I thought he was your friend. He even says so in the beginning of the ad.
