Other than LeBrun's speculation, there's nothing to support that $1M number.

Honestly, how does he still have a job? I don't expect him to be Woodward or Bernstein, but general competency isn't asking too much.

I'm scratching my head over this one. The worlds are a sparse talent tournament that relatively no one cares about. Not sure that performance is a solid indication that he can still play.
I wouldn't call it a sparse talented tournament when several NHLers play in it. That's quite a stretch. Canada and Russia's team clearly had more talent than most NHL teams.

Which is why I don't buy that...Jagr deserves more then that...don't insult the guy...
Agreed. If the Penguins say they're interested, then go on to offer him a max of $ 1 Million, that's worse than just saying "not interested" from the start. My guess is $2 Million is the lowest you can realistically offer without insulting him.

The dumbass was probably getting quotes from that account via DMs for his stories.

I agree.

also...insulting Jagr has nothing to do with it. just because he was once a penguin great doesn't equate to him deserving anything from Ray Shero. if 1M is as high as he'll go, I'm fine with that...and if Jagr isn't...then I'm fine with that too.

He is an idiot. Any moron should know that was a fake account. Why would Letang make a comment like that on such a huge forum? I think Letang is smarter than that.

Correct me if I'm wrong here. The 1st time Jags came back to the Igloo with the Caps, during one of the TV timeouts they played some of his Pens hilites on the Jumbotron and the fans gave him a standing (not sure about the standing part) ovation, and Jagr was moved. That's like the ole "prodigal son" thing.

Understood, but would you base the signing of a Euro free-agent based on their performance in the tournament?

I don't get this. You can interested in a guy, but also wary of throwing away 2M+ cap space at the same time. It's not like we'd be missing the boat on a guy who's going into his best years.

Wouldn´t Rossi have a better chance of knowing if Letang is smarter than that though? I suppose he has interacted with Letang many times, correct? 8-)

Seems that Svboda is trying to drive up Jagr's salary by talking a lot with the media.

2M for 1 year is not throwing away anything. There are no good free agents and plenty of players called up from WBS last season can fill the shoes of Talbot and Rupp.

The most interesting tid bit of news is that Mario has been trying to reach out to Jagr. I really hope that Shero didnt offer Jagr a mil or less, thats crazy and insulting. Offer 2.5 mil, bring Mario on the phone and frankly if Detroit is at 3, that should be enough for the Pens to get him. Jagr wants to go to a winner, but he also wants to go back "home", he can have both with Pittsburgh.

This is just what I was thinking. Jagr has a bit of a track record does he not? I was impressed with him at the Worlds and I believe that he has more talent in his tochas than 93.2% of the NHL. The worlds are good talent and the difference between the NHL and it are not THAT extreme. This about this ACHA club hockey players play in the AHL, ECHL and other leagues. If club hockey players from Slippery Rock University, or Florida Atlatic can play pro hockey at the AHL level I think it proves there isnt THAT much of a difference.

Since no one has any idea if RS made an offer - much less one for $1M - there seems to be a lot of hand wringing over nothing.
Hell, he might not even make an offer.

Hello, he might not make an offer.
Yeah but there really isn't any offseason excitement with the FA pool out there other than this haha.
