He died from a failed stunt. Not actually wrestling.
That doesn't make wrestling fake. They bleed real blood, and I'm sure they have to go home and sit in ice tubs. Do you want a stone cold stunner pulled on you?
Um. What?

Wrestling is predetermined. That's all. The bumps are real, the blood is real, and I'm sure the pain is real. I don't really know who said it was "fake" though. Owen's death has no baring on the "wrestling is fake" argument, on either side. He died because of a stupid stunt gone wrong, not from anything in the ring.

Just in general, people always talk about how it's stupid because it's fake. I wouldn't want to be in the ring with any one of those guys (unless I was already decided to be the winner of course)

I agree with you, and I still have no idea what you're arguing. Especially when you undercut your argument so quickly.

It is fake...sure the stunts are real and they are essentially glorified stuntman, but if the ending has been already decided, then it is indeed fake.

It's fake in the way that Weeds is fake. Except nobody gets all upset and screams, but Mary-Louise Parker isn't a REAL drug dealer!

Wait is your argument that it's only kind of fake because it's scripted like a tv show and is made up?

I don't understand Mike's argument. Sure all the bumps and all of that is real, they are athletes, but how is wrestling not fake? They write the script.

That's why I said it's predetermined. The word fake has a lot of baggage when it comes to wrestling. It's scripted, the outcomes are laid out before each match and often times storylines are thought of months in advance (though sadly not often enough). But the in-ring action isn't exactly fake. It's hard to fake a fall from a ladder, or from the top of a Hell in a Cell cage onto a table.

Niiiice. Summerslam '95. I was there, and got extremely upset when the crowd started chanting "Here we go Steelers" when Bret just got laid out by Isaac Yankem. Bret was hurt and those jerks were chanting for Kevin Greene.

From what I remember Summerslam 95 was a pretty weak PPV event for the WWF at the time. Highlights of the night from Raw was seeing Doink the Clown and the RKO Randy Orton put on Evan Bourne. Sick RKO!

1995 was a terrible year for WWE, and yes that PPV was pretty awful, I was there live as well.

It was very weak. But I was 11 at the time, so I was just happy to see any wrestling live, much less a PPV. For a card that had a casket match, a ladder match, and Sunny on it, there really wasn't anything memorable.

Scary Sherri!? For some reason, i thought that Warrior starting a "scary Sherri" chant was the funniest thing in the world when it happened.

Some great Sherri/Savage stuff:

I always thought the dumbest thing about the steel cage matches were that you could win by walking over to the gate and asking him to open it. And if the steel cage matches were real, both wrestlers would just run for the fence and see who could climb the fastest

Zeus was the villain of the cinematic masterpiece "No Holds Barred." He had a brief stint in WWF as promotion for the movie.
