1) We have cap space, especially if we let go of some excess grindersCorvidae wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salary_capBaxter wrote:I don't understand why the Pens would lowball Jagr.
2) We need 1-2 wingers, if we get Jagr for 3 mil, that does not hurt our cap
3) We need another offensive player who does more than "chip in" but actually has skill, today we have 2 skilled forwards (Sid and Malkin) and 12 chippers
4) See 3
5) See 3
6) See 3

Was that a joke or are you serious?Penspal wrote:Mario does not have JJ on his cell phone, nor Svoboda. But he does have Robert Lang. How is that hard to understand?llipgh2 wrote:I agree, the whole Lang angle is bizarre and lessens the credibility of Svoboda's comments.Lesky wrote:How does Robert Lang know Mario Lemieux is trying to contact Jagr?
Does this mean Lemieux has called Robert Lang in an effort to get in contact with Jagr?
But why would Lemieux have to call Robert Lang to get in contact with Jagr?
Would not Svoboda provide that number to the Penguins/Lemiuex?
Or are Lemieux acting on his own without Sheros knowledge and possible want to speak to Jagr himself before talking with
Shero etc?

2) Nobody else, except Richards, out there
3) Need PP help (Jagr PP specialist)
Or do we want another year of having Duper be our top RW and a crappy PP?
Jagr becomes our best winger (and I'm talking just a 20 goal Jagr) and fixes the PP as NOBODY else will this off season, must sign.

Also, I am inclined to think if we don't do something, our sell out streak will end this season, and it must be preserved, must.

1) The Pens do not have 14 forwards signed. They have 9. They need at least 3 more.Baxter wrote:1) We have cap space, especially if we let go of some excess grindersCorvidae wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salary_capBaxter wrote:I don't understand why the Pens would lowball Jagr.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
They could go into the season as constructed right now, with Crosby and Malkin healthy, and they're immediately one of the picks to win the East. He's not a must sign.Baxter wrote:1) Need another skilled forwardtonysoprano wrote:I'm hard pressed to think of anything more overdramatic than this.Baxter wrote:I don't understand why the Pens would lowball Jagr.

Our sellout streak continued all the way through with a depleted team last year. It's important that we've sold out, but it's not end all be all.

This thread is becoming epic.
All my excitement is now gone now that reality is setting in. Got excited there for a few hours that this may happen, but he will most likely be with Detroit.
Not a bad thing for the Pens. In fact, in reality, it probably has not affect and may be better. But as a nostaligic fan that would like to see him one more time in a Pens uni, the more I think about it, the more I realize it ain't going to happen.

The only time fans could claim Jagr sucked is when he played for the Capitals.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
People will stop coming to games if they start losing because Pittsburgh, like most other cities, is a fair weather sports town. Jagr's not going to pack the arena. Many of the people going now are bandwagoners that don't remember when he was here ten years ago. Many of the people that do remember still hold a grudge. And if he comes back and is just not that special anymore, which is probable, he's certainly not going to bring people into the arena.

Past does not equal what he's done now, let alone what he's done in the KHL. I get you're argument, but he left in the decline, and he's coming back older, and slower.Kerry Fraser wrote:The 2nd best RW in the history of the game sucks, K.Corvidae wrote:2) Jagr sucks.

Re: Penguins want Jagr back?!
@HockeyBreak The Red Wings have expressed the most interest for free agent, Jagr, but his number 1 choice is Pittsburgh. He would need to take a pay cut.

He WAS the best playing RW'er, but his ability has surely declined. Stats wise, yea he's one of the best.

And even that's sort of an over-exaggerated myth. He was a PPG player with the Caps. Why Not Us wrote:The only time fans could claim Jagr sucked is when he played for the Capitals.

Correct. He's washed up and probably still acts like a baby. Do not want (for more than $1 million).Kerry Fraser wrote:The 2nd best RW in the history of the game sucks, K.Corvidae wrote:2) Jagr sucks.
But it doesn't matter because he'll go wherever pays him the most (not Pittsburgh). Gambling problems aren't cheap.
P.S. Jagr sucks.
