Barrasso career points record
I saw in the latest Crash the Net Q + A that Barrasso has the career points record for a goalie with 48. I was wondering if any current goalies are in reach of that and was also wondering how many points Fleury currently has. Obviously, most sites just have goalie stats and no offense stats. Is there a site that has both?

www.hockeydb.com has goalie stats. Brodeur was the first guy to come to mind for me. He's got one goal and 27 assists. He maybe has an outside shot depending on how many more years he goes. Hextall had a goal and 33 assists. Grant Fuhr had 46 assists. Roy had 45.
Fleury has four assists (had three last season).
I'm going to look around some more. It's probably not a record likely to be broken. Barrasso racked up a ton in the 80's, as did Fuhr. Barrasso was strong with the puck and he had a lot of talent to work with.

...yeah, and they had set plays. i remember mario's 5 game performace at the garden in 93 (after he came back from cancer) - that was one of the most magical games i've ever seen. anyway, one of those goals had lemieux rushing to the red line when the rangers dumped the puck in for a line change. tommy to it and swung it out quickly, allowing mario to go in all alone.Loaf31 wrote:I never knew TOmmy B. had so many assists...gotta love the 80's style of play.

Barrasso was so friggin' good in his prime! Between the way he could handle the puck and make those glove saves, he was the best.fletch wrote:Loaf31 wrote:I never knew TOmmy B. had so many assists...gotta love the 80's style of play.
Was more of the fact he was like a 3rd defenseman with the stick. He was capable of same great break out passes from a dump in. never could figure out why teams kept insisting on trying to dump against him. He was the best goalie Ive ever seen at getting the puck and sending it right back out of the zone.

That's another safe record, kind of like Gretzky's records. The game is different now. Gone are the days of a goalie stopping a puck for player such as Mario or Gretzky and them just waltzing right through defenders to score. Yes, that still happens, I know, but not at the same frequency. As much as the lockout did to open up the ice, sophisticated work out regimens did for defensemen. Not to mention goalie equipment... whew. While all the records in hockey are great, it's sad to be (99%) sure that a lot of individual records will never be broken again.

Also, that only prevents them from going into the corners for pucks, but they can still play them anywhere out of those small zones. I do agree that the 2-line pass helps to offset that.Jake wrote:No, because now they can gun it down ice with no two-line passes.Zarovich wrote:Won't it be more difficult for goalies to get points now that they can't handle the puck outside the trapezoid?
I think Dipietro may have a shot, but that depends on who he has to pass it to.

I don't think that does much of a difference. You don't see goalies passing to the opposite blueline very often. Now that they can't play it in the trapezoid it'll hinder goalies chances because most of the time that's where the goalies get the puck to pass.Jake wrote:No, because now they can gun it down ice with no two-line passes.Zarovich wrote:Won't it be more difficult for goalies to get points now that they can't handle the puck outside the trapezoid?
