Jagr pretty much lost the scoring race today...

Post by ivand87 »

Thornton just picked up a goal and an assist against the Ducks, so he now has a 2-point lead on Jagr for the Art Ross. Jagr got shut out against the Flyers on NBC today.

Really, this is a perfect case for them to make a rule for the Art Ross - 35 goals minimum to be elegible for the award. Thornton has dished the puck like no one else in the NHL this year, but with 29 goals to Jagr's 54, can we really call him "the scoring champion"?

Cheechoo also just tied Jagr with 54 goals so Jagr may have just lost 2 trophies today to the Sharks.

A game and 2 periods left for Thornton, and just a game for Jagr, against the Senators.

Obviously as a huge Jagr fan I would have liked to see him walk out with that hardware for the NHL awards show. He'll have to have a monster game against the Senators...

Edit: Cheechoo's second goal, his 55th, from Thornton... Jagr loses both trophies.

Why the hell not? Are assists less valuable than goals? If so, why do they count as whole points as well? When a guy has over 90 assists in a single season, I think that ought to count for something.

Thornton deserves it just as much as Jagr.

I wonder if the man-child is crying and babbling right now... naturally no one can understand him as his English is atrocious and even other Czech players can’t understand him (a la: Nedved)

Jim: You'd love it if he starts crying and just floats the team to an early playoff exit? :)

He's too stupid to realize it yet. It will hit him at the awards gala when his name isn't called at all.

Huge choke not only by Jagr but the entire team as well. They're one and done.

During the last games he lost the Maurice Richards, Art Ross, possibly Hart and the plus/minus award =) Ouch.
