Calgary vs Anaheim, game2

Post by Guido »

I love this officiating crew. They're calling everything, just like at the beginning of the season. Check the stat sheet, 18 total minors with 5 minutes left in the game. 2 exciting shorthanded goals, also.

Glad to see the refs aren't regressing into allowing the clutching and holding and hooking. Great playoff hockey.

The announcers seem to be doing a good bit of complaining about the officials but while I have not watched every minute of the game all of the calls looked good to me.

I also heard the announcers, or maybe it was the intermission guys, commenting on the speed and flow of the game. Hopefully the light will go on for someone and they will point out that because penalties are being called the game has not detoriated into a wrestling match and actually hockey is being played instead.

This game was great to watch. Speed, hitting, 7 goals, and penalties actually being called all throughout the game.

I stopped watching the game after a 4 minute sequence that involved about 6 penalties being called, several of which were suspect at best... but the absolute topper was a Flame who was laying on the ice actually reached forward and grabbed one of the Ducks' sticks with BOTH HANDS right in front of 2 officials and neither called it. They whistled Calgary for too many men on the ice shortly thereafter, but that's not the point.

I watched this game too, enjoyed the feel of it. Although those
"cheer sticks" forget them.
Scott Niedermeyer's gone totally west coast with his hair. Didn't recognize
him at first.

A penalty is a penalty is a penalty...should never enter the refs brain as to what time it is during a game.

This is by far my favorite series of the playoffs thus far. I fell in love with these two teams the past two seasons in the playoffs, and both lost in the Finals unfortunately. But what a great duel they've got set up, the Kipper vs Giggy. Two great playoff goalies going head to head. Too bad one has to lose.
