Flyers/Rangers are done...
Flyers/Rangers are done...
Flyers getting killed 4-0, while the Rangers are down 2-0 without Jagr and Kaspar. I think it's safe to say that, once again, the Flyers will be golfing after the first round of the playoffs, and the same goes for the Rangers. After the Pens miserable season, I can take solace in watching both the Rangers and Flyers get their @$$e$ kicked.

I'll put my two cents in on the Flyers series. Buffalo will win this series, as long as the refs do not pocket the whistle. The team speed of the Sabres is absolutley killing Philly, and causing the Flyers to take alot of obstruction penalties. Esche looks terrible in net. It was speculated be people on the board that the games would not be called as tight in the playoffs. That was wishful thinking, but Bettman nipped that in the bud right away, at least in the opening rounds.
I find the Sabres a very interesting team. A definite dark horse. They are going to cause problems for whoever they play.

What are you gonna do? How do you stop a team like Buffalo with so much speed and poise. We have nothing. They counter as well as any team in the league. Where's the genious of Hitchcock? I don't see it. Rathje, Hatcher, Desjardins are just too slow to be effective.
The Flyers had to turn this series into a street fight and the refs are protecting the Sabres plain and simple. You have to allow a team to send a message especially after what happened to Umberger.
BTW I think that person with the story that a Flyers fans said the hit on RJ was dirty ( it was a head shot) may be correct. If that's Gauthier hitting Briere he's suspeneded. I also don't buy the fact someone would reply with "Crosby sucks". Just another made up story.

Please. There's NOTHING dirty about that hit. Campbell clearly turns his body to check RJ with the shoulder. Just because RJ is stupid enough to be skating with his head down, it's a dirty hit? C'mon FN take off the orange and black colored glasses.
And the refs calling the rules are protecting the Sabres? I thought this was the "new" NHL. Not the 70's. Just because the Flyers don't have the talent to keep up, zebras are supposed to let the goonery take over?
You mean to tell me the refs weren't calling phantom penalties to keep the Flyers shorthanded so they couldn't send a message?ville5 wrote:FlyerNation wrote:What are you gonna do? Trust me, my eyes are open and I see very clearly the Sabres are just a better team. However my point is this is the playoffs, the only way for the Flyers to have a chance is to dictate the physical play and force them into a street fight. If that means going after Cambell for a "clean" hit or getting in thier heads than the refs have to allow them some leadway instead of protecting the Sabres. This is hockey not basketball, the refs are protecting the Sabres because they can't do it themselves.ville5 wrote:Take your heart out of the game brother. Seems to me the only one who needs protecting is Umberger, and if the Flyers can only compete by playing outside of the rules, well, I'm not sure you can blame the referees.Trust me, my eyes are open and I see very clearly the Sabres are just a better team. I have watched alot of playoff games this year. The games are being called tight in every series, it's not only the Sabres/Flyers Series. The refs are following the directive from the league. The days of the rule book getting lax are over, and if that hurts the chances of Philly having success, then maybe it's time to tweak the old roster a bit.FlyerNation wrote:What are you gonna do? Secondly the hit on Umberger was as clean as it gets. Campbell did not leave his feet, nor did he bring his elbows/hands up Umberger's head. Umberger was the vicitm of a "buddy" pass, and was trying to fish the puck out of his skates, and got caught with his head down.

Wow FN. If you think hitting people from behind is a way to change the momentum in a series....you are wrong. The fact of the whole series is....the Flyers can not keep up with the Sabres. When you got slow defensemen vs. Faster Forwards....the speed will always kill the old and slow.
Someone needs to go wake Booby Clarke up and tell him this.

So, your saying that for your Flyers to be able to compete and win, the refs should look the other way while the "boys" beat the snot out of Buffalo for a few minutes to beat them into submission. Get real. By your own admission this is hockey...but it isn't the WWF. The Flyers are getting beat by a better HOCKEY team. If they are going to allow a clean hit by an opponent to beat them, then they do not deserve to win this series, let alone a game.FlyerNation wrote:Trust me, my eyes are open and I see very clearly the Sabres are just a better team. I'm actually more curious to see what Lindy Ruff's comments do to this series. That just may be the straw that break's Buffalo's back.
