Bob Clarke blasts Leafs Front Office

Whether what he say is correct or not, I would think he should be more concerned with his team and how they're playing against Buffalo than what changes and non-playoff team is doing in their front office.

Clarke just needs to STFU and like you said worry about his club at this point not being swept.netwolf wrote:http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=163915&hubname=nhl

Besides who the F is Clarke to talk down on anyone how they treat coaches after what he did to Barber and especially Roger Nielson. I wish Clarke would coach so that way he'd be fired after the next Flyers first round loss.

People need to understand that it's not like athletes hold press conferences for comments like this. More likely than not, he was giving an interview and someone asked him about it. Obviously he's got a lot of respect for Pat Quinn, so of course he's going to stick up for him. Not to mention his team just got absolutely raped, the attention is probably welcome as long as the pressure gets taken off the team a little.
That said, I'm killing myself for sticking up for Bob Clarke. I have never sunk to such a low.

I thought the same thing. Mr. Pot, meet Mr. Kettle. Clarke's record with coaches is worse than the Leafs', so he has no grounds for criticizing Leafs management. In fact, if the Flyers are bounced in the first round, and given Clarke's record, you have to wonder about Hitch's job security.FlyerNation wrote:

Well, the fact that someone asked him about it does not excuse the comments. How about taking the high road and not commenting on other organizations' decisions? That's what the classy person would do. Oh, wait, I said classy, and that word can't be used where Clarke is concerned.wondermoose wrote:People need to understand that it's not like athletes hold press conferences for comments like this. Bowser Bowser....sometimes I wonder if you wear a dress.Bowser wrote:People like Clarke, Hitch, and Quinn need to be ousted from the NHL. They continue to live in the 70s brutality era and I'm tired of it.
What about the 80's and up to the mid 90's? Fighting was the same and it has a place for this game. I bet you love figure skating huh?
As for Hitch he's not a "goon" coach and it's a lazy comment on your part to keep referring to him as "old" school which he isn't.

Well, it sure looks like he and Clarke put together an old school team, especially on the blue line. Hatcher and Rathje were slow in the old NHL. They simply cannot keep up in the new NHL.FlyerNation wrote:As for Hitch he's not a "goon" coach and it's a lazy comment on your part to keep referring to him as "old" school which he isn't.
They're slow but that has nothing to do with Hitch's philosphy. If anything he's in the 90's trap mode which I wouldn't consider old school. If it's about retrobution, having a lineup of goons and ordering their guys to fight than he is in no way an old school coach. Quite the opposite in fact.Mad City Mike wrote:Well, it sure looks like he and Clarke put together an old school team, especially on the blue line. Hatcher and Rathje were slow in the old NHL. As for Hitch, I guarantee Clarke has his finger prints on this team than Hitch. Look at last playoffs we had a mobile D, perhaps the most mobile in the league with players that could skate and move the puck. What's been assembled this season with the likes of Rathje, Hatcher, Therien, Brashear, Stevenson etc. is not Hitch.

FN - I like legal physical hockey. I don't enjoy goonery like the stuff Tucker, Brashear, Eager, etc have continually displayed under Hitch and Quinn.
I loved the hit from Campbell, that's physical hockey.
The only people wearing skirts are the cowards in the NHL offices, namely Colin Campbell, for not suspending these goons.
In the last month, I've seen Tucker, Gauthier, and Belak make some really bad hits and go unscathed by the NHL.

Big difference in "goonery" and flat out cheapshots. I don't think Eager did anything to be considered a cheapshot. Gauthier, I'll give you all day. I don't like seeing him hit people from behind neither.Bowser wrote:FN - I like legal physical hockey. It was a rhetorical question, but no research is needed. The other was game 6 of the 91 finals, when he was GM of the North Stars. Slick.FlyerNation wrote:Please name them.
