The Rodeo is back in town!
Yep, you knew it was bound to happen. It took until Games 4 of the opening round series, but your favorite sport, roadeo hockey has finally returned. It took all of four games for the refs to realize that they have more power than Bettman. We are pretty much back to the playoffs of old, at least based on what I saw last night. In the Philly-Buffalo game, it was like a wrestling match. There was abput one penalty called for every ten infractions committed. Hooking, holding, tackling were all once again legal last night. It was just a disgraceful officiating perfromance by McGeough and Leggo. The opening period of the Dallas-Colorado game featured more of the same, too. We won't even ask how Justin Williams gets away with two blatant high sticks with no call. The whistles have been put away. And that's too bad.

Mike, in all fairness I know you won't agree with me but Buffalo in the second and third period did their fare share of holding and especially interference. There was stretch where the refs put thier whistles away and Buffalo could have been called as much as the Flyers. You won't agree with this because of your bias but man you can not say it's totally one sided.Mad City Mike wrote:Yep, you knew it was bound to happen. No matter what happens you can't give the Flyers credit.

Where does Mike single out the Flyers as the main culprit? Nowhere, he said that McGeough and Leggo were awful, which they were, but did not single out the Flyers or the Sabres as the main beneficiary.FlyerNation wrote:Mike, in all fairness I know you won't agree with me but Buffalo in the second and third period did their fare share of holding and especially interference. It does reason to assume however that Philadelphia is going to be the main beneficiary of a game where hooking, holding, and other infractions are not called to the letter of the law because of the way Buffalo can hurt Philly and anyone else with their overall skating.
Did all teams get away with penalties? Sure, it happens in every game but does not make it right and unfortunately it hurts the game of hockey as a whole.

This was not a commentary about te Flyers not deserving to win. I didn't even mention that, did I?FlyerNation wrote:Mike, in all fairness I know you won't agree with me but Buffalo in the second and third period did their fare share of holding and especially interference. I actually agree with you. Both teams were getting away with murder in that game. It was a joke. What makes officiating like that so pathetic is that they let blatant stuff go, and then for no reason they call something. Whether or not it had any effect on who won last night is debatable. My comment was just on how the games are now being called.
