Hey computer geeks

Post by Peter »

My computer has been very SLOW since Sunday. It's like something is taking up all the ram. Sometimes if I click on the application, it will immediately go off of it, so sometimes I have to double click just to get something done. Extremely slow performance.

I've done spybot. I've done hijack this. I'm trying to do virus scans, but they literally take hours, like 5 hours or more per scan. That should not happen.

Any ideas? I'm going to be getting a new Computer soon but I'm reall baffled by this.

SORRY THIS SHOULD BE IN NHR, Admin can you move it? So sorry.

First, just try restarting your computer if you haven't already done so.

Second, download and run this: http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Per ... l&tag=top5

Third, click Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs, and then search that list for anything you don't want. If you download free programs, other programs get bundled into it. You might find things like Yahoo Toolbar, Weatherbug, etc. If you see something you don't know or don't remember installing, get rid of it.

Finally, just let your virus scan go overnight or something.

If you use anything like Bearshare or any other peer-2-peer downloading software, uninstall that because they are constantly downloading spy ware to your computer. Feel free to ask if you have anymore questions.
