If Lynn Swann or another wins the governor election...

will a new governor, you think, have any sort of impact on the decision of the arena issue? Well, at least, a new governor sure won't hurt the Pens chances of gettting a new arena.

I don't think so. The election is in November, right? The license can be awarded at any time, but I think the latest is in late December. If they don't award it until after the election, I don't know if that's enough time to do anything.

Not directly, but still possibly. ;-)

The key is that if Lynn gets on board with the IOC's plan, that he can pressure Rendell before a single vote is cast. Even if the election itself is too late to make the difference, the way that politicians use the press might be of benefit. If Lynn's campaign sees something that can gain them votes, they will hopefully make it an issue early on.

I wrote to Lynn to let him know what I thought of Rendell and his position on the issues, and I know some others have, as well. It may help, it may not, but it can't hurt. :-)
This is the key. He needs to come out in support of it, and get western PA behind him. If Rendell thinks it's an issue that might cost him the election because Swann is stealing Democrat yinzers, he will do an about face faster than you can say, "Governor Pigbreath."
