Shortly after the wedding of Don Vito Corleone's daughter, he is visted by Virgil "The Turk" Sollozzo, who is being backed by the rival Tattaglia family. Sollozzo asks Don Corleone for financing, political, and legal protection for importing and distributing heroin. Despite the huge profit to be made, Corleone refuses. This decision immediately puts the Corleone's at odds with the Tattaglias...
