Podcasts You Like
I found this archaic 2008 thread on the topic but much has changed since then and I'm curious to know what you folks enjoy when it comes to podcasts. I have a couple of wicked long car rides coming up and I don't think my current compliment of two podcasts is going to cut it this time. I'm interested to know about whatever you're listening to, but if you'd like to make a direct recommendation my biggest interests are Comedy, History (American Revolutionary War and other periods), Pens, Formula 1 and IMSA, Practical Finance, Books/writing, etc. There is a lot of white noise out there and it's tough to find good stuff sometimes.
I'm listening with BeyondPod on my Android Note 3.
Currently:
Nerdist: http://www.nerdist.com/podcast_channel/ ... t-channel/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Freakonomics Radio: http://freakonomics.com/radio/freakonom ... t-archive/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Past:
The Artie Lange Show
Comedian Bob Marley (defunct)
WDVE Comedy Cuts (defunct)
What's good?

Re: Podcasts You Like
This Podcast Stinks (Tony Kornheiser). Listen to that every day. Other ones that I listen to include Mike O'Meara Show, Bill Simmons (depending on guest), Sklar Brothers, Bill Maher. Used to listen to Adam Carolla, but that is pretty rare now. Also used to listen to ESPN's fantasy baseball one, but that has become pretty awful.

Wait Wait Don't Tell Me
This American Life
Sound Opinions (sometimes)
Slate Audio Book Club
Serial (just started this one, it's telling the story of a murder from the late 90's and the questionable conviction of the ex boyfriend. Really interesting concept, sort of like a miniseries podcast).

Re: Podcasts You Like
BBC global news- two 30 minute podcast a day of what's going on in the world.
Stuff you missed in history class- mostly just an interesting tidbit show
Behind the steel curtain- best steelers coverage IMO
Fantasy football focus
Anyone know of a good pens or Pitt sports podcast?

Re: Podcasts You Like
Here's what I listen to now (I have a long commute):
This American Life
Nerdist
By the way, a conversation with Jeff Garlin
Comedy Bang Bang
Doug Loves Movies
Radio Lab
Freakonomics
Steve Austin
Talk is Jericho
And I wanted to separate this one: Serial. Produced by This American Life it's a serialized in-depth look at a teen murder case from the late 90s. It's seriously incredible. Download it now.

Re: Podcasts You Like
Formula1Blog.com (weekly, year round)
Motor Sport Magazine (monthly, but you get to hear Nigel Roebuck, my favorite motor racing journalist)
Warbird Radio
Superego (comedy, fake psychiatry)
A variety of 'casts put out by my local NPR station (KCRW) - To The Point (national news), Which Way L.A.? (same host as TTP, but with a local focus) and Good Food (which I should think is self-explanatory)
I used to be a devout listener to KCRW's Left, Right & Center, a weekly political roundup that billed itself as the 'provocative alternative to the screaming talking heads who dominate political debate'. Their long time conservative voice (Tony Blankley) passed away a few years ago, and they had been using a hodgepodge of guests to fill the 'right'. Then about a year or so ago, they sort of settled on Rich Lowry of the National Review as the permanent right..... and he's just a screaming talking head. Seriously, he's a caricature and the show with him is completely terrible. He kills discourse, and I stopped listening altogether about five or so months ago. Actually made me sad.

I will forever be grateful for you pointing me to this one on Earwolf, and from there to Comedy Bang Bang. The Travel Bug With August Lindt remains just about the funniest 90 minutes of my life.shmenguin wrote:the andy daly podcast pilot project

I don't listen to any but this is giving me a good place to start if I want to try some. The BBC Global News podcast interests me.

BBC news hour on NPR and the podcast are great. But I <3 the BBC so that shouldn't be shocking.PensFanInDC wrote:I don't listen to any but this is giving me a good place to start if I want to try some. The BBC Global News podcast interests me.
Listened to nerdist and how did this get made today based on this thread. Definitely adding them to the list. Going to listen to Serial next.
