2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
I did not see another transaction thread, but I'm sure someone will point me towards it...if it exists.
However, Ryan Malone was put on waivers by the Rangers today.

Hurt players/players to IR are probably considered transactions, right?

The Ducks are in tough, as Freddy Andersen is still a little dinged up himself. Dwayne Roloson dressed as the backup last game, he's their goalie coach.

They called up Igor Bobkov, so their current tandem is Bobkov-Labarbera

Bob Loblaw and Jason LOLBarbera...their PDO is going to experience three standard deviations worth of shrinkage...

Hey, Labarbera is the only undefeated goalie on the Ducks. Show some respect.

AHL single season shutout record too I think...might have been usurped recently...

Not to get side-tracked, but there is not better example of the differences in play between the AHL and NHL. Labarbera can pretty much dominate the A and is straight mud in the NHL.

Does Thomas Vanek paying his bookie count as a transaction?

Yes, but it needs to go in the 2013-14 thread.BleuLineLady wrote:Does Thomas Vanek paying his bookie count as a transaction?

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
Yeah, I thought he was a pretty no-brainer clear. But there's are tons of fans everywhere that think everyone on waivers gets claimed.
Bourque will play for Hamilton (AHL), he has accepted his demotion.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
Every year there are one or two waiver moves that I think, "no way that guy passes through." When I first heard the news, I thought he'd get claimed. Then I thought about it for a bit and realized it wasn't 2010 anymore.mikey287 wrote:Yeah, I thought he was a pretty no-brainer clear. Just saw that on the phone. I tend to forget Sarge is still playing until seeing news like this.mikey287 wrote:Dallas gets rid of: Gonchar (8% retained)

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
Interesting... I guess Dallas trusts enough in Oleksiak & Nemeth to fill in for him? Their defense is already pretty weak as it is, and Moen just makes their forwards (outside of their first line) older.

Dallas has been in the hunt for a dman. So I'm guessing clearing Sarge opens up space for a new addition soon.

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
Poolies: Have a D spot that isn't working out? Want to try to hit a major homerun (a long shot, I admit), put on watch on John Klingberg in light of this trade.
Nemeth is out for the season, Avyran.
Gonchar, for as weak as Dallas' defense is, was the worst player on the team...

Mikey, how would you rate Curtis McKenzie? Is he ready to be a full time NHL player? What's his upside, and would the Stars potentially swap him for a dman?

nothing says "we love old, Russian defensemen" like having Gonchar and Markov on your team

Re: 2014-15 Non-Pens Transactions
Rate: Complementary goal scoring winger.
Proximity: Not ready yet, at least not prominently.
Availability: Worth more to them than in a trade. They also have been sitting on him for a while. He went the full way at college, AHL RoY last year, now up and down with the club. It's a lot of development investment hours into pawning him off for an impending UFA like Paul Martin, ya know? Other than Pouliot, we don't offer a prospect that they don't already possess...and you could argue that Klingberg is Pouliot but more ready.
Better chance of pulling Matt Fraser out of Boston probably than Curtis McKenzie out of Dallas, I have to believe...
