Any Parrot Owners?
I'm taking care of my dad's green, talking, singing, yellow-naped Amazon parrot. He loves to eat scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes, ride on your shoulder, and "wrestle" with you like a puppy. I need to teach him a few things: 1. to step on an off the hand, as I want (dude will jump and sink his claws onto your shoulder or back and good luck getting him off... he will also "laugh" his butt off) 2. to shut up when I say so (dude won't shut up for 5 hours straight) 3. to eat more fruits and veggies 4. take a good bath. I mean, he does in his small dish, but I see parrots going into sinks or tubs full of water, yet he starts growling like a dog when he sees that.
I tried looking it up on the web and youtube, but it's too vague.

Nope. But what he likes is watching - literally stops talking and stares at the screen (not sure if parrots can see in 2D or what) - parrot videos on youtube.SolidSnake wrote:Does he like webcam girls?

Re: Any Parrot Owners?
Well, it's not "my" parrot and I hope I don't have to keep him too long. I really really like him, but he's a tremendous responsibility. More than a dog or a cat. He is very social and he will scream until he gets human contact. He'll let you sleep in quiet even in the same room though, so he's not totally stupid. But when you open your eyes and look at him, he will sometimes get off the cage, walk across the floor, hop on the bed and sit on you.DudeMan2766 wrote:I know a guy who owns a parrot if your dads looking for a friend for his. Spoiler:
My dad may want to get a female for him at some point. He's 11, so she'll have to be around that age. I read they live 50-60 years or 80, I don't know anymore. Depending on where I read. These things can go for $1000-$2000.

Re: Any Parrot Owners?
I taught the parrot how to quack like a duck (QUAA QUAA QUAAAA). Do the police siren - that one was hard because the sound fluctuates up and down, took him 2 weeks and at first he would whisper it then growl, but he finally got his voice up. And make fart sounds.

You never ate monkey!?!?!?PensFanInDC wrote:I just realized you said he rats eggs. Eggs...

He even knows it's egg, as I break the egg and make it on a skillet while he watches.
I'm trying to introduce fruits and veggies into his diet, but it's hard. Parrots are typically picky eaters. His original owner (dad's friend) mostly fed him seeds and parrot pellets, which isn't that good actually as the bulk of their diet should be fruits/veggies. Earlier today my mom tried giving him a banana, but he rejected it. Same thing a second time. On her third try, she started eating it in front of him... mmmm,mmmm... and he finally ate some.

How old is this parrot? There's a chance that it could outlive you.
