According to @ByScottPowers, #Hawks will carry a significant $3.07 million salary cap overage into next season.
Panarin ($2.575M), Teravainen ($212.5K) & Rozsival ($200K) all hit bonuses. By my math, means #Hawks finished within $82,500 of $71.4M cap.

I have a stupid question. Detroit made a comment about potentially trading Datsyuk's contract to a team that needs to get to the salary floor. Kind of like Pronger. My question is, does the team that trades for that players salary actually have to pay it to the player or does it just count as a number against their Cap, but no actual money is paid to anyone, it is just a number? For example, they have their 22 players and are paying them 44mil. And the salary they took from the retired or heading home player simply makes their cap rise by "7 million" making them get to the cap floor?

the Sabres are obviously willing to gamble that between his buddy Eichel working on him and the money they could give him that Vesey will change his mind and sign. not sure why they think that though as it's pretty clear that Vesey wants to stay close to his mom.
