When the idiots are caught, I hope they are sent to Super Max in Colorado, and even that's too good for them.

I've seen a few reports that his alarm system was not on, and the safe was left open. If this is true, at best it points to him being incredibly lax at security, which is better than alternative of someone close actively working against him.
"The back door of Malkin's home was reportedly kicked in at the time of the break-in, when the alarm system and cameras happened to be down. A home safe was kept open, as well. The Penguins played a game against the Ottawa Senators at 4 p.m. that day, with a 911 call hours later. "

Apparently thieves can use wifi jammers to knock surveillance systems out of service. And a bad thing about being a professional athlete is that everyone knows when you won't be at home – during a game.

A good reason to use hardwired lines for security sirens and cameras. I personally have security systems and cameras on hardwired lines, battery backups for alarm, an UPS for cameras, alarm instant activation sensors on all power conduits and panels. Seems strange someone with that level of wealth and high value target would be sloppy but one never knows. Seems to be a series of this with athletes recently if the media reports are you to believed. A few articles I have read say in several cases it's been foreign crews who enter the country on visitor visa then immediately depart which would be a smart tactic. I don't walk to my mailbox without arming my alarm etc so I always find it strange when people are like, oh I never arn my alarm or lock my safe etc.
I wonder what happens with the rings... in an event like this, will they remake his rings or are they just lost forever?

I don't think any sports league remakes rings when they are lost/stolen. I can't imagine anyone being able to sell Geno's rings without getting caught.Antonio wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 11:48 amI wonder what happens with the rings... in an event like this, will they remake his rings or are they just lost forever?

Yeah I mean I figure selling it would be a very specific internal type thing to an arranged buyer. I was just more thinking if there was a way he could get a new set or if he's just out forever. That would be a shame.Tico Rick wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 12:12 pmI don't think any sports league remakes rings when they are lost/stolen. Maybe he has Armstrong Cable, that would explain the cameras being down.Sigwolf wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 9:54 amI've seen a few reports that his alarm system was not on, and the safe was left open. Geno's rings found in his home. I guess he forgot to look under the sofa cushions.
