Perron is fine if you don't mind how wildly streaky he is, same with Neil. Perron didn't have a good post-season and Neil was last seen drawing a penalty on Orpik by punching himself in the face. OK, it was Orpik shouldering his arm but the result was the same.

Neil would probably go for 6mil/5 yrs and Perron similar He just had a career year and probably wants the same $$ and term as Neil. If they are looking for longer term than 3-4 yrs, McPhee sounds like he's fine with them walking.
Is this the same Perron who was on the Pens a while back?

Yes. He had 66 points in 70 games. The most productive season of his career.

That's probably just housekeeping by new GM Fenton.

O a team with some really onerous contracts, who would have thought at the beginning of last season that Staal's would be a great contract and not another drain? He really changed his career's downward trend in a BIG way.

Per Dreger, Rick Nash's agent says he'll forego the July 1st signing period as he's unsure if he's going to play.
Shocking.

That's a bunch of bs. "My client is not getting offers as high as we would like, so we are going to blow some smoke up everyone's butt to hopefully get people to sweeten their offers a little."

The Capitals have announced Todd Reirden as their new head coach.

That makes 6 straight WBS Head Coaches that have gone on to be HC in the NHL:
Michel Therrien
Todd Richards
Dan Bylsma
Todd Reirden
John Hynes
Mike Sullivan

Toss in Mike Yeo who was an assistant at WBS that eventually went on to be an NHL Head Coach.

WBS is obviously the NHL coaching hotbed, amirite?

Per Sportsnet, Nash is opting out of free agency. 8 teams reportedly contacted him and he had at least 1 multi-year offer totaling $15 million.

Craig Custance

✔@CraigCustance

25-year-old Tobias Rieder continues to generate significant interest. Canucks, Flames and Oilers have been connected. Florida, Montreal, NY Rangers also in the conversation.

Also, Reaves headed back to Vegas.
And, Doughty and Kings have an 8 year agreement.

So, does that mean he is re-signing with the Bruins, or retiring?

Seems like he's seriously considering retirement. Up to 5 concussions I think.

-Montreal immediately buys out Steve Mason. They just acquired him, Armia, a 4th and 7th for 6th round D- Simon Bourque. Dumpity dump.
-The Wild have bought out Tyler Ennis.

Looking forward for the Taveras watch to come to an end!

Make your decision already. I just hope he doesn’t do a 1 year deal and signs an 8 year extension next season.

Just pick your team and take a max term deal and move on.

So then ROR or Brassard are the back up plans in Montreal right?

Apparently Chicago has managed to rid themselves of Hossa's contract. They are working on sending the last 3 years of his contract to Arizona.

So the Caps trade away Orpik. The Avs release him. The Caps resign him for $1 mil. Anyone else with me who thinks that shouldn't be allowed??
