No defending that. Lineup still is horrible. Better put Ramirez and Alvarez in now and hope they can hit some homeruns.

Which is who should have been in the line up from inning one.

I would have started both and batted Pedro second and Ramirez fourth. More at bats.

I read today that Ramirez has a groin strain and can't throw from a stretch, and that's why he's not in.

I'd go with this
1. Polonco
2.marte
3. Cutch
4.a-ram
5.walker
6.pedro
7.cervelli
8.mercer
9.cole

Sigh... This feels like a penguins playoff game.

He had that a few weeks ago as well. May have flared up again. Another reason Pedro should have started.

I can't stand the thought that 6 months and 162 games is undone in a half hour-45 minutes.

Arrieta is the baseball version of running into a hot goaltender.

Boy this one game playoff thingy is beginning to suck.

There is only one thing to do now. Cole has to drill Arrieta and get him off or out of the game. Dirty pool time lol

2 called strikes on pitches outside. Give me a computer ump to call balls and strikes.

Seems to be a mounting consensus on the webz among Bucs and other non-Cubs fans alike that the home plate ump--how do we say--has different standards for the strike zone for the pitchers. Arrieta doesn't need the charity, blue.

Doesn't in any way excuse the fact that the Bucs have played timid from the first pitch. That Schwarber kid admiring his homer and flipping his bat should've lit a fire under the Bucs. Worked for me, but I'm on my couch drinking.

If we can get 2 here, then maybe we can build on it, send it to an eventual walk-off situation. Comebacks R Us, right? Boy, would that be fun reading tomorrow.

Sigh.

Timid play started when this lineup was announced. Hurdle didn't give this team a chance to go out on their shields.

I honestly get what he was trying to do. He probably thought the chances of Pedro making a costly error or two to allow Cubs to advance was > than him hitting Arrieta hard. He didn't think he's have to prepare for Cole being shaky, although he was ready with the short hook.

Pedro has been long enough to pay some dividends, no?

Damn, how I'd love to make the Cubs pay for Kang.

That lineup said they can't score off Arrieta and hope it is a 0-0 game. No faith in your team to hit.

Yep. Marte just did the worst possible thing there short of kicking the ump in the nuts and getting ejected. Although I might have been OK with that.
