Apparently he attempted suicide a few years back...sad.

2012 I believe. Had already lost a leg to diabetes and was facing another amputation, so he shot himself in the temple and didn't die. Very sad. He was a helluva character actor. Great in O, Brother Where Art Thou? as well.

He fought a long, hard fight.

RIP Sam. I remember reading last year he was very sick. Surprised he made it this long. Sad.

Sam Simon was a cool dude. Once he was diagnosed he started hemorrhaging money into animal rescues. :thumb:

I had the pleasure of jamming with him a few times. I was working for a property management company that managed a community he lived in here in MD. He came into the office once, we started talking, and he invited me over to jam. I am very sad to hear of this...

I'm terribly sorry to hear this. I own the entire Discworld bibliography, and Mr. Pratchett's work has given me literally hundreds of hours of enjoyment. Pratchett was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease back in 2007 but continued to write to the end. This is a great loss for the writing community.

I always see his books at the library, but have no idea where to even begin. Apparently there's subsets within the giant arc that you can pick up and read?

If you go to the below Wikipedia page, the "Storylines" section shows the major subsets, and if you click further and go to the page for each one they seem to all list the books that fall under those groups.
