I’ve heard of players betting on themselves in contract years, but this is ridiculous.

The National Hockey League today announced that the Ottawa Senators will forfeit a first-round draft pick for their role in the July 2021 trade of Player Evgenii Dadonov from the Senators to the Vegas Golden Knights and the subsequent, invalidated March 2022 Dadonov trade between the Golden Knights and the Anaheim Ducks.

Ottawa will forfeit its first-round draft pick in one of the 2024, 2025 or 2026 Drafts. The determination as to which pick will be forfeited will be made by Ottawa within 24 hours of the conclusion of the Draft Lottery for that year. The League will have no further comment on the matter.

Wow! that's a fireable offense I would think. The Pens will gladly take said forfeited pick :)

The gist was that Ottawa knew that Dadonov had a 10 team no trade clause but didn’t share it with Vegas, so when Vegas tried to trade Dadonov to Anaheim, the trade was invalidated by the league.

Dorian relieved of his duties...Senators always have a lot of news around them.

As we've been hearing, Peter Chiarelli is a name making the rounds as a possible GM replacement in Ottawa.

Yikes. I would rather have Dorian.

Realized that the Ducks had a 30 year emblem on their jersey. Going back 30 years, two friends and I attended the first preseason game at the Arrowhead Pond. 9 holes of golf beforehand, then being the 3rd car to park at the arena.

KNX radio had a reporter in the parking lot asking fans in attendance about their thoughts. Dude came up to us sitting on my tailgate, and asked how excited we were for an NHL team in Anaheim. My answer, "I am excited hanging out with my buds drinking suds at the game.". The clip made it to radio.

So, Ed and Dave, wherever you guys are, 30 years ago (seems like yesterday) we hung out in the parking lot drinking cold adult beverages and then watched the Ducks.

What is it with lousy retreads getting rehired again and again in the NHL?! Chiarelli was TERRIBLE in Edmonton. AWFUL. He left a complete mess.

Canes say he has a "medical issue and is undergoing evaluations"" so I think it's something a little more serious than one of his frequent injuries.

Someone had to go out of their way to say “it’s not life threatening”, so yeah, this is not just a sprain or something.

Wow. Edmonton putting Campbell on waivers. Clearly nobody will claim him. That’s a ton of coin to pay a player to not play for you.

Something has to give in Edmonton soon. If they lose to San Jose, heads are gonna roll.

Campbell cleared waivers.

Old farmhand Calen Addison traded from the Wild to the Sharks for a 2026 5th rounder. Wake up KD!

Addison. Another one of our many former high picks who haven't progressed. Sometimes it's good to sell high on prospects for sure.

Jay Woodcroft has been fired as coach of the Oilers.

Edit: Kris Knoblauch, the coach of the Hartford Wolfpack, is their new coach. Paul Coffey is joining the staff as well.

Part of me says there’s no way this rumor can be true, then it’s the Blackhawks. Anything is entirely possible with that franchise…

Patrick Kane to sign with Detroit.

Also, I came across this nugget of info on Twitter, showing the "success" of players after having hip resurfacing surgery. Expectations for Kane shouldn't be very high.

NHLer's post-hip resurfacing surgery:

• Nicklas Bäckström: 47GP, 22 PTS
• Carl Hagelin: 0 GP, 0 PTS
• Ryan Kesler: 0 GP, 0 PTS
• Ed Jovanovski: 37 GP, 5 PTS
