No Puustinen on the 4-4 and I bet he doesn’t play another shift to end the game. Same with POJ starting now.

4 on 4 with 7 minutes left and a 2 goal lead . Pens attacking with high risk offensive moves. Perfect formula for a Montreal counter and goal.

Be aware of the situation.

POJ given a shift late instead of Graves. That’s progress.

Rust trying to stop the puck with his skate instead of using his stick to score an easy goal was awesome.

Letang ends it with the Radar Shot.Nice Aim!
Pens were on their heels for too much of the 3rd.

Montreal is really bad but so are the Isles. Putting Puustinen up with Malkin turned the game around. Also sticking with POJ-Letang as a pairing looks to be working too.

Rust, Rakell and Smith all passengers again.

Lots of penalties and a shortened bench in the third period had Carter playing a lot more.

Needed a Win against a bad Team.3rd Period was not good but they hung on.
Agree with DelPen on Rakell and Smith.2 supposed Top 6 Wingers who were invisible.Rust with spotty play as well.
Puustinen was terrific and DOC had a strong game.Malkin had a much better night with these guys on his Wings.
Jarry with a near flawless game,he was big in the 1st and 3rd Periods.
Eller and Acciari were both solid on the PK.They were a strength when needed.

The 2nd Period effort thanks to Puustinen and DOC was the main reason this game was a Win.Letang had an up and down game at times but was there late.
Sully should stick with that 2nd Line, keep POJ with Letang and go with Puljujarvi going into the Philly Game Sunday.

The Puljujarvi experiment didn't last too long did it Sully? You got your Harkins back in the lineup...

I've got a fever and the only prescription is more Acciari in the lineup.

I was expecting this to happen unless Puljujarvi scored 3 goals in 2 games or something. I thought (eye test) that he was playing pretty well, actually. I mean, who else is really scoring much (if at all) outside of the first line? But then there' s Harkins with what, 4 assists(?), in about 50 games? Like Bylsma, Sullivan was a fringe NHLer who loves to get fringe NHl guys man games for their pensions.

2 points in regulation. It's a start, as Coach Brooks said, "better,." "Not good, but better."
DOC playing physical, but not enough to trigger Sullivan.

From my perspective, if you gave me $100 and told me I had to be on Puljujarvi or Harkins to score a goal first, my money is on JP every day.

JP is a strong forechecker, has a good long reach, used the body, and looks like someone that has solid hockey IQ. The inability for Sullivan to get off these crappy crutch players like Harkins, Carter, and Acciari is going to be the downfall. It's long past time to give someone else a shot over Harkins, even if that means waiving him.

Give me a young 4th line -

Rakell-Sid-Rust
DOC-Malkin-Puustinen
Smith-Eller-Acciari
Bemstrom-Phillips-Puljujarvi

Start there and see what happens. Get Poulin up here over Phillips as soon as Poulin is healthy.
