Figures. You know when Olczyk is singing the praises of the Pens that something awful is about to happen.

Almost seems like signing Zucker for 2 years instead of trading for Smith would had been the better move. He just does not fit here. If you can’t be consistent with Sid or Geno then you are the problem under Sullivan. Would a different coach use them differently? Maybe. And Sullivan should had been fired in December to see if that was the main problem before blowing up the team.

Graves reminds me of someone but I can’t figure it out. He’s like a less physical and less skilled Kevin Hatcher but someone else was like that too.

That was a weak call, Eller was diving to get the puck out and don’t think he was tripped. Seeing as how he immediately got up to skate up he wasn’t looking for a call either.

Mantha seemed to hit more. Joe Melichar was better at everything. Jamie Pushor and Rick Berry at least hit.

Pens deserved better than being down 1-0. But when pucks are up in the air you have to take sticks away down low instead of looking at the puck.

Contrary to popular opinion, Rakell looks bad too. Constantly fumbling around, missing open passes and looks lost half the time.

Best start from the Pens in a long time.So much Offensive Zone time from the strong forecheck, cycle and getting on loose pucks.
A weird unlucky Goal against, just too bad it happened.
PP with the usual bad puck management and perimeter play.
Reilly Smith us simply not playing well at all.Offers no threat Offensively and turns it over way too often.
The 3rd Line had a strong period, physical and determined. That will make a difference with the kind of effort displayed.

Maybe Dan Focht? But we didn’t go out and sign him to be a top pairing guy. Contract wise for a swing and a miss on defense this is up there with Johnson and Ehrhoff and also looks as bad as Paul Martin his first year.

Carter had the best look that period and shot it into the logo on Grubhauers sweater.
