Tip of the cap to Jon Quick on stopping that backhand in front from Bunting. That should have been a goal. He made the play.

Malkin figures a blind pass with no one around is a bright idea with the Goalie pulled.

Rangers taking the foot off the pedal at 6-3, or Pens stepped it up? Not sure which

So our genius coach thinks having the oldest team in the league out there for a 3 minute shift is a good idea

They let way up and played most of the game like they could finish off the Pens at any time. I watched the Rags-Canes earlier this week when they won 1-0 and they played very, very tight defensively for 60mins and Shesterkin was in net.

I saw online a death metal band dismissed their singer because he spiked the bass player's smoothies with estrogen in order to steal his girlfriend.

Just saying....

I remember when we used to win games like this in March. This team just isn’t good, and the concept of “the core” needs to be relegated to the past once this season is done. We aren’t going anywhere like this.

I kind of hope the Pens don’t end up in the lottery this year because they could be worse next year and that pick might be more valuable in the 2025 draft.

Pens had their chances in the 3rd,they dominated play but Quick was real good for the Rags.Smith-Eller-Puustinen had a strong Period.
Jarry with a poor game, never looked confident all day.Posts kept it from being worse.
Letang with another lousy game.Mindless Penalty, couldn't move guys out on 2 Goals in front, miserable puck management.Last 9 games a disaster.
Malkin barely showed a pulse.Barring injury he looks like a guy who has decided he can't or won't be able to do much.
Karlsson brought it today,He was engaged and all over the ice in a good way.His best effort in a while.

The Rags were there to be beaten today, not good defensively at all but this Pens Team doesn't have what it takes to get that kind of a Win.Defensive Breakdowns twice after getting it tied up,2 veteran "core" players who had terrible games and a weak Goaltending Performance when they needed a strong one.Never fun losing to this Rags Team especially at home.

Saw that and was kind of thinking the same thing until he called that timeout about halfway thru the shift. These guys are professional athletes and should... better be able to take a 3 minute shift with a 30 second break in the middle of it. I'd much rather have those guys out there than Carter and Acciari.

As another Coach Mike has yet to learn, can't trade FGs for TDs

After the San Jose win, why change lines?
Spirited effort, but out gunned/out run.

*thank you again Steelers.

They actually have a chance (and HAD a chance this year) next year if they get their PP figured out.

Add in the points in the standings if our PP was just league average and it would be a different story.

Big IF though... Todd has to go and they HAVE to bring in a PP specialist.

Zero percent chance I take that risk. That's like giving away $1000 lottery ticket because you "know" there's a $10,000 ticket coming up in the roll.

Jack St. Ivany back to WBS sometime after the game. He was recalled on emergency recall basis, so I guess there was someone (you figure Letang or EK65 since we recalled a righty) that may have been banged up or sick.

The worst thing they could do would be to finish far enough down in the draft order that the player they select doesn't ultimately become a star and doesn't do a whole lot for them next year, then finish in the bottom 3 or so next year. I'm not familiar with any of the draft prospects, and a quick look at the NHL's top 32 prospects list makes everyone look really good, but there's no Crosby or Ovechkin in this draft.

I think the best thing they could do would be to lose enough that they fall into the bottom 5 this year, because I don't think you can really project 16 year-olds for 2025 unless there's an obvious kid like Sid. Maybe James Hagens? Probably needs to grow a little more, though.

It's just hard to see this team winning too many games against opponents who have a pulse the rest of the way. Not much going right for them at the moment, and they don't seem to have the mental fortitude to fight through any setbacks.

It looks like they have a home and home against Columbus, and that's it for opponents not in the playoffs/playoff hunt. I don't think they'll go 2-14 the rest of the way, but it might not be much better than that.
