What's really ironic / funny is the only 2 years both Sid and Geno play in every game they miss the playoffs.

Yup. Easily the lowest hockey IQ of any prominent player I've ever watched and always has been. Exceptional physical ability has been his saving grace because without it he would have been a seriously substandard player.

Would imagine Pens win 4 of their last 13, giving them 77 points. Assume they will be 7 or 8 in the lottery.

Probably would have to get 23 points in last 13 games to make the playoffs. That’s not happening.

That is what makes it beyond disappointing.2 Outstanding Years from Crosby and an above average one iast year from Malkin.Completely wasted.

I know Malkin's decline has started, but...it's also 2 injury free years for Sid and Geno. I think the only other time this has happened was 2017-2018, when Sid played every game and Geno only missed 4 games. And with 2 healthy superstars, this is the best we get. Yuck!

Pens played a decent first 5 and last 5 minutes of this game.The 50 minutes in between were a terrible overall effort.
Jarry again gets dinged for 4 Goals and gets the hook.His last 6-8 Games have been below average.
Bunting gave a strong effort,Malkin had his best game in a while. St.Ivany showed some promise.
Rust had a terrible game,way too many turnovers and bad decisions.Letang with another bad performance.Playing his worst hockey the last 3 weeks.
It likely would not have mattered but the useless PP in a 2-1 game had its negative result as it has for 69 Games.


This was not going to be an easy contest but the obvious way the Pens were outclassed for most of this game is the evidence of why this entire Coaching Staff needs to go.As much as I'm criticizing Rust tonight he is playing the system Sully is asking.This is why we see him being frustrated and angry,Sid slamming bench doors, because the entire operation isn't capable of succeeding.The next 2 games are going to be rough to watch.

I could definitely see Sullivan and the Pens mutually parting ways. Why would Sully want to stay here if the team can’t win with him? He’ll go to the Devils and move on.

Seattle up 1-0 on Arizona with about 9 minutes left in the 3rd period. A Seattle win leapfrogs them over us, returning us to the 8th worst overall spot. Looking like 8th overall is likely the lowest we would drop, unless Arizona keeps playing .500 hockey...they could pass Montreal and us and drop us to 7th.

EDIT: And, no sooner did I type this, and Arizona tied the game at 1.

EDIT2: Goal disallowed...still 1-0 SEA with about 6 minutes left.

Pens stay ahead of Seattle because Kraken have 3 more SO wins. We're now 24th in standings - 9th from the bottom.

The Pens remaining schedule with the exception of the two against Columbus is difficult. I can't see them being considered favorite in any non Columbus game the remaining of the way.
