Shea was held up at the border earlier, good to see he was able to make the game.

They came to play. Fast, hard forecheck, aggressive. Hope they can keep this up for 60 minutes.

Only thing missing is a barely competent PP, if these guys figure that part out that would help a lot.

Not a bad PP, it did look better than it has and I could see what they were trying to do.

At some point they are going to have to capitalize on these early PPs. Cause when TOR PP steps on the ice (because you know....have to keep the PPs even), look out.

Bad Penalty for Toronto to take.Cannot squander this PP. Have to get accurate shots on net and screen the Goalie, grab a rebound an put it in.

We need a goal. Toronto will get their chances and power plays soon.

The more things change, the more out powerplay continues to let them down.

Definitely.Next call is going to be on us.Get back to the strong forecheck and see if a rebound off a transition play can get it started,

I’d add that given these are essentially already playoff games for the Pens, I’m not sure I like the second unit out there for the last 63 seconds of the PP. Seems like the first unit should be out longer given the urgency.

Who knew all Geno was missing was a player who will go to the net and make some space for him and Rakell benefitting too.

Youth infusion has been real good for Geno. He looks energized.

Remember that stretch when Puustinen was up with him and it was the best Geno looked for a while? Smith was such an anchor for him and just not the right player to play with a guy like Geno.

Nice thing now is Smith compliments Eller very well and he’s actually a good 3rd liner that’s slightly overpaid. He’s usually a guy you want for depth in the bottom 6 for the playoffs. We are lucky that DOC has looked down right good with Sid to let Smith fall out of the top 6 and not have to force him there.

It seems like some of the Penguins problems was simply confidence. After playing so poorly game in and game out, every other game...they just seemed to think everything was always going to go wrong.

Right now, they have confidence that they can play.

Pens dominant for most of that Period.Every area was sharp at even strength.
Ned made a couple of tough saves when a Toronto put some pressure down low.
The Pens Defense are playing smart and setting the pace of play with their good passes out of the Zone.
PP still can't get on the board. The bumper plays were close but not enough shots with guys screening.
The effort from the Forwards to Back Check making a big difference.Geno is on his game all over the ice.
