This is going to be some 3rd period. Wings are going to empty the tank. Pens are not defending well.

If there was ever a time for this team to lock things down now, it would be the 3rd.

Pens have to come out playing like its tied because they will not be able to defend a Wings team with the ice tilted in this game. Way too many defensive lapses and bad decision making. Ned needs to bail them out this period.

Pens struggled again for most of that 2nd Period.Way too much room for Detroit and not nearly enough Offensive Zone Time.
Ned has been up and down.Made some big stops but gave Petry a little too much to shoot at on that 3rd Goal.
Reilly Smith with a strong Period,big on both Pens Goals.Sid has been outstanding.Rust stepping it up as well.
The Pens Top 4 Defense have not been good tonight.Turning it over in bad places.
The Pens simply have to pay attention to detail,get the puck in deep,step the effort up and Defend with focus and intensity in the 3rd.Finish it off.

Lyon looks like he's ready to give up 6 or 7 tonight and the Pens should oblige him. That period was pretty much all Detroit except on the scoreboard and the 3rd has been a nightmarish period for this group so I'm expecting a 5-5 regulation and Wings win in OT. Pens may actually gain ground with just a point the way the other games are going.
