I hear good things about Fallout 3...that should be something I look into I think.AlexPKeaton wrote:I like RPGs but the Elder Scrolls series is not my cup of tea. Too much bland, generic fantasy. I feel like since I liked Diablo and this is supposedly somewhat similar but not as dark I'd enjoy it. If I don't then I'll just wait for D3.canaan wrote:oblivion was actually kind of fun for me...even though im not a huge fan of the fantasy realm. Re: Current video game being played
So here is my final verdict on the "revamped" Metroid Prime:
Controls = A+
Changes to the game from the original = F
Now, those who have played the PAL or Player's Choice versions of the games won't care as much about the "changes" because they were already incorporated. However, those who have the original NA release will find that most of the "tricks" that were present have been removed or surroundings were changed to prevent them.
In addition, Hive Mecha and Ridley are both significantly more difficult than in the original game. All of the tricks which worked against Ridley do not work anymore. The most annoying thing, however, is the addition of Fission Metroids to several rooms in the Phazon mines after you defeat the Omega Pirate. Those things are brutally annoying.
For me, the awesome controls do not outweigh all of the stuff they changed... I am likely to stick with the original GC version in the future when I need an MP fix. For me, the changes pull the game away from the experience that I really fell in love with in the original.
It should be stated, however, that if you aren't into the "sequence breaking" tricks, the new version will more than satisfy you. This is likely everybody else here that would care about the game.
I just started on Echoes and so far nothing seems to have changed... it is just Echoes with Corruption's controls... which is good. Too bad MP wasn't that way.

Depends on how hardcore you are and how much time you're willing/wanting to spend. You can easly spend 200+ hours on Oblivion (even without some of the awesome mods). Diablo is great fun but more of a straight forward click fest. I very much recommend Oblivion (do check out some of the major mods though) but you can't go wrong with AlexPKeaton's recommendations either (Fallout and Mass Effect).Samsdog wrote:How is Elder Scrolls Oblivion? Fallout three is also from Bethesda (Elder Scrolls devs) and is newer. Haven't played it myself but should, guessing it's awesome.

Oblivion isn't at all like Diablo. Its a first person rpg, and completely open ended.
Re: Current video game being played
My 360 got the dreaded RROD Friday. Then my wife's car battery died. All in all, a rough weekend. Oh well, I put down my preorder for NHL 2K10 and bought Metroid Prime Trilogy using trade-in value from 360 games and accessories. I'm not planning to replace the 360, I will just play my PS3 and Wii.

Yeah he is alright. The girl from Uncharted is really cute though (the RL voice actress). I just beat Shadow Complex at 100% this weekend on Normal. I have the very last Proving Ground thing to finish and I will be done with the game. Pretty cool, but it took forever to get 100% of the stuff.SolidSnake wrote:AlexPKeaton wrote:Yeah I am. Online at bestbuy.com is the only way you can use this deal towards pre-orders but than they get you with a shipping charge for both games. Also the B1G1 50% off will be valid for PS3 games starting next week from 9/6 to 9/12.

I'm up to 80% done on Star Wars. Beat every level. I unlocked every character.
I'm now going to beat the 20 bounty hunter missions before going back through Episode IV-VI and collecting all the canisters, power blocks and challenge levels.
Almost there.

Re: Current video game being played
nan, I'm guessing you didn't do any "sequence breaking" when you played, such as "Space Jump First" (ie. get the Space Jump Boots as soon as you land on Tallon IV) or early Ice Beam/Plasma Beam/Power Bombs.
That is something I love to do in the original and "normal" players could never pull those moves off, or even care to. It is very likely that you may have played the PC version anyway if you got it later on. (Though a couple of the additions were from the PAL version).
For someone such as yourself, this would be a great pickup because it is 3 cool games for $50 (or wait till you can get it used or reduced, but it is worth the $ IMO).
Echoes is kinda the redheaded stepchild of the series but is (mostly) vastly improved by the updated controls (still HATE the beam ammo system though). Corruption is very good, albeit not quite as good as MP, IMO.
