She can also spot a glyph from a mile away. I'd say I would be about 2 hours behind where I am now if it were not for her.
Tell your wife whatever rock you gave her when you proposed, I will triple it. :pop:

It's awesome isn't it? I'm a PS3 guy but my ex-girlfriend was an Xbox 360 fiend. Could kick the ass of any homely, greasy teenage kid without thought.

But if the puzzles are anything like those in the PoP series I'm going to have the same trouble when I finally get around to it. The puzzles took me forever.

You two need some kids.

Honestly, as a video game fiend since Intellivision ( :face: ), it was music to my ears when my three year old asked "Dad, do you want to play Mario Kart?" for the first time. Beyond awesome, even if he has no idea what he's doing. At least I won't finish last.

AC2 is awesome so far. Toys R Us is running a special this week - buy 2 games $39.99 and get $20 off, so I bought it yesterday. They also had a deal where if you bought it yesterday and were a rewards club member, you get a $10 gift card too, so basically, I got it for $30. :thumb:
Spoiler:
I'm rusty from the original. I had to do the race with my brother about 5 times before I beat him. Two weird things an hour in: fighting as Desmond and not having actually killed someone yet. Been in a bunch of fights, but so far I'm just beating people up.

Oh good, this thread.

I keep seeing a commercial for BORDERLANDS. OMG. This is the kind of game I like. I must play. Anyone tried it? Alex?

Also, this game seems to be for both PC and XBOX. I don't really play games as much as I used to back in the day, and I've been avoiding buying an XBOX up to now, because when I do play it's on the PC and I haven't really bought a system since Genesis/SNES. But maybe time has come.

Can someone please explain to me quickly why there are different versions of the XBOX? Are these the same damn thing, just with some stupid extras, or is there a actual difference in performance between the versions?

I see Borderlands' on PS3 too. Now the confusion. See, this is one reason why I avoid buying a game system.

The gameplay (minus the rgp side) reminds me of my favorite game of all time - Giants: Citizen Kabuto, even the creepy crawler monsters look similar.

I must play.

I have not tried Borderlands. It is an open world game which I don't really like. I haven't even checked if there is a demo.

As far as the differences in the xbox versions... there are only 2 versions out atm (the Pro was discontinued). The Arcade is the basic version, the Elite is exactly the same as the Arcade only with a harddrive. The harddrive is important, so I think it is a no-brainer to go with the Elite. You can buy an Arcade, and buy the hard drive separately, but I think that is more expensive. The elite has a few other things thrown in like a headset maybe an ethernet cable.

It actually takes a while to get weapons. Since I played from about 1am-6am the first night it's hard to gauge how long it took me. I'd say about 2 hours of playing time.

It's totally worth it though. Once you get a sword the weapons just keep on coming. Tons of new things to use!!

Yeah, I heard it's like the one for the DS, which was way too oversimplified. It tried to be more like the original NES game then any of it's awesome 2D sequels. Nintendo, you've lost me. I've been waiting for a new 2D Metroid but I now fear what they'd do to it.

I am reading the PC version has Secure-Rom on it. Yuck. Maybe a better way would be to get a hacked copy off a website with that stupid thing removed already. But I'd rather buy it.

OK so now, XBOX Elite vs PS3. How would I choose? What has a better selection of games and what is going to stay relevant longer? :?

For your last question the answer is PS3, no doubt. Look how long the PS1 & 2 were around, the original Xbox had a very short life cycle, and factor Blu-ray into the equation.

What about game selection for each system?

Actually, there is one game that came out for PS2. It was called Drakan..... 2. A chick who'd fly a dragon (who could shoot fire, ice, electricity, and poison), but it was an action rpg, so she'd go off and go explore on her own.

I was absolutely nuts about the first one for the PC, which I still have and plan to play again one day. Amazing game that I believe heavily influenced Giants (with the giant sized monsters) and even a game like Dungeon Siege. So long, too, I felt like I came off an adventure when I was done.

But I never played the second one and I would love to. PS3 runs games for the previous PlayStations too, right?

Come to think of it. Maybe I could grab a PS emulator and find that game somewhere.

Game selection I guess would be up to personal preference. They're both good, I hear. I know PS3 has more on the horizon that I want (God of War 3). As for the PS3 running old games, I think it can play PS1, but not 2. Someone correct me if I'm wrong (like I have to ask).

It took me a while to adjust to the new controls in the BAP goalie mode. Before you could go cross-crease and be attempting a save simultaneously; now you have to be butterflying to do both. Few other quirks and stuff too, but yeah I've also gotten better and after you adjust to the controls it's easier to appreciate the changes they made to it.
I just realized that I'm ranked 924. I don't know if I should be happy about that or really really sad.

Been making a point to go back and play the old Final Fantasy games I either didn't play or never got around to finishing. I am currently playing through the GBA version of FFV... and I must say it is pretty awesome.

The Job system is a unique spin on the usual class stuff and lets you pretty much create 4 custom characters of your liking. The music is beyond awesome in this one as well. It is fantastic.

I didn't expect this, but I seem to be enjoying it even more than IV.

You're both wrong and right.

It depends on which version of the PS3 you have. Both first gen PS3s (20g/60g) and both second gen (60g/80g) have backwards compatibility. Anything after that, does not.

I just finished up the Heroes (ie. Batman and Robin) boards in Lego Batman last night.

Now onto the Villians boards. The game is moving a lot more faster than Lego Star Wars. It's challenging (for a Lego game), but not as challenging so far as Lego Star Wars.

However, I think going back and finding the canisters and bricks are going to be more challenging.

I'm at about 32% of the way completed.

If you buy a new PS3 off the shelf it is not backwards compat with PS2 games, which stinks. I think both play PS1 games though.

As far as choosing between the two... I have both and I like both. The 360 is slightly more powerful and has better by far online capabilities and more cheap games to buy on xbla. The PS3 has blue ray and has a more exclusives that I like. The PS3 is more reliable also, and has free (but inferior) online. Overall, I'd probably recommend the PS3.

Yeah, it's like the dumbed it down unnecessarily. They removed natural advances in the genre (kicking shells straight up, storing powerups, etc.). The biggest flaw in my opinion is they only allow you to use Yoshi in the levels you find him. And I think there are only 3 levels with him in the game. Multi-player sucks because when one person dies the screen freezes for a second. This throws off the other players which oven leads to death or running into something.

The music is horrible too. You're expecting updates to the classics. Instead you get like 3 different songs throughout where are annoying and repetitive (except for world 8).

This game was the only game I ever looked forward to on the Wii. I hate that machine now more than ever. You suck Nintendo.

That kind of sucks about the new Super Mario Bros for the Wii.

I probably wasn't going to buy it unless if I found it cheap used.

I still enjoy my Wii though.

Wow! My brother and I played that game for many hours in our damp basement in O'Hara twp. Good times!

I know I've asked on here before, but I remember an old NES real time strategy game that had the USSR vs. the U.S. or NATO. It was really fun, a lot like RISK with tanks and other vehicles. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of it though.
