I couldn't even imagine working on that movie. I like the movie, but what a bunch of crazies. Nicholson for once wasn't the most crazy person on set. Kubrick would make 70 year old men do 100+ takes and made actors cry on set. He would tell Shelly Duvall she sucked and she almost had a nervous breakdown. Kubrick has to be one of the craziest SOB to ever live. He would call up Stephen King at 3 am and ask him if he believed in god.
Ha. I just finished watching Full Metal Jacket last night and I can see how this Kubrick guy is a little over the top. Crazy movie. I kinda liked it, but at the same time I felt a little disturbed at the end. I've heard many quotes or one-liners all my life that I didn't know where they came from, and now I realize that most of them came from this movie.
I loved Full Metal Jacket! Kubrick was a psycho, but I absolutely love his movies, even the Shining.

Watched frost/Nixon last week. It was ok. The Nixon character was compelling and wonderfully executed. The frost side was good enough too. I just didn't like the pacing and didn't like how it mixed in the fake documentary stuff in there. Kinda messed up the continuity

Some friends tried to get tickets to an advanced screening of it here last week. (I didn't bother because I was going to the Kings/Pens game). Nobody got in anyway, as it sold out in less than an hour.

I just watched Quarantine. Wow. I watched it twice, it was so good. The movie stars Jennifer Carpenter. The whole thing is shot through a reporter's camera. It shakes, abruptly changes directions, etc.. Basically, she and her cameraman follow a group of firemen into an apartment building where this... virus... begins to turn people into zombie-like creatures. This isn't a goofy zombie movie, which is what I expected. It resembled a documentary and it was spectacular.

Rent [REC]. It's the Spanish film that Quarantine was based off of. I say based off of, but basically it was a shot for shot remake. I like [REC] way more. It felt more "real" and the lead was much more likable.

I tried to watch it... I got motion sickness about 45 minutes in. Couldn't finish it.

I just watched Freddy v. Jason for the first time in years. I know it's crap, but that is one fun movie. "KIA, HE'S GOT ASTHMA!"

OMG please no. One of the worst movies I've ever sat through. While in theory, a remake could not be any worse than the original, I don't put much past Hollywood to surpass its own suckitude.

I watched Rendition the other day. Very, very, good. I don't particularly like Jake Gallyhaadsomething and Reese Whitherspoon, but they did a great job. The whole movie captured the mood well. Really made me think what guys who are innocent go through when they're send to Egypt or some place for torture.

I watched Blade Runner for the first time on blu ray last night. I thought it was awesome, especially on bluray, for a 30 yr old movie to look and sound that good is amazing. I can't believe how many different scifi movies i've seen over the years obviously find their inspiration from blade runner. Very dirty gritty sfi noir, loved it!

Also watched Public Enemies, I was dissapointed. It wasn't terrible, but I was expecting a lot more. Not a movie I'd watch again. Maybe if I knew a little more about Dillenger and nelson I'd enjoy it more, but it didn't really have any character development, so I really didn't care about anyone. I loved how M. Mann used the digital camera for Miami Vice, but I didn't think it worked that well for this (except for the airport scene where it really did look like you were at the airport in 1933, wish they could've created this atmosphere for the rest)
